Yes heated seats are nice (I've fitted them in the rear for passengers too, why don't they think people ride in the rear), but the 'within a minute warm air from the vents from the supplementary heater was better for me. I was hoping the winter pack would include the heater, but as you say not in the UK.

Colin, did you manage to remove the glove box? I think you have to remove the 2 Torx screws under the bottom edge to remove the box, but its the squeezing in of the sides I find is quite difficult, to the extent that there must be an easier way.

edit

Removed the three screws inside the glove box and loosened the 2 in the footwell and its still wont come out. The 2 screws in the footwell seem to indicate loosening them allows the whole assembly to be withdrawn, but it doesn't.

Edit addition

Yes Jim I did see that one and if it's a 2017 thats still wrong, mine like yours, there are no removable side panels.

Also you see the two metal tabs with screw holes in on the bottom of the glove box frame, on mine they are slotted to allow the screws to be left in place and the glove box to be withdrawn.

A further investigation up behind the dash and glove box (with a torch and mirror) I find what looks like a large tab on the rear of the glove box which appears to go into a rubber lined recess mount. This I suspect is to support the rear of the glove box and also provide some squeak free vibration mount. The rubber probably providing the grip that's preventing me pulling the whole assembly out. Though there may still be captive clips.

Unless someone knows any different, I'll have another go tomorrow.

I may even be cheeky and ring my local dealer for advice.

I will be doing that when the new Kuga arrives
in March....is it just a pull off side panel as stated?
Where did you earth the dash cam? Had a quick look on present car and dosent seem to be anywhere obvious under the dash.

Ah I am mistaken, I see now, I thought the end panels were just on the end of the dash, as the dash in the video the end panel looks a different colour to the full end panel.

As you were, I've abandoned what I was going to do as I dont wish to take off the console side panel to get the glove box out. What a design.

The screws securing the glove box appear different to mine, I have 3 screws inside and two underneath and as mentioned the 2 underneath secure slotted tabs and not a drilled tab as in the video.

Thanks for the help.

You should be able get a negative from the screws on the bottom of the glove box, as they screw directly into a metal bar.

Drat. Because I saw the different coloured panels and different number of screw I didn't watch all the video. Its an easy job I see and I was right that there was a rear rubber mount holding the box in place. Me being too hasty.

Oh I can definitely finish my project. Thanks a lot....

Jim
When you take side panel off there are 2 10mm bolt heads, either one is easily accessible for an earth. The bottom glove box torx bolts are not suitable IMO as the glovebox is slotted to fit round them so you cannot tighten sufficiently for a good earth

It would be OK with 5 or 6mm Ring terminal Ronnie, your earth is not with the slotted tab its with the screw, and the slot will make little difference to the earth resistance for the relaively small current a camera will take. So you dont need a 10mm ring terminal.

There is a washer fluid low message on the screen and a little orange I on the dash panel of our new (to us) 2011 Kuga. I've filled the reservoir up, but the message and I won't turn off. Anyone know how to turn it off?
Probably a stupid question, but we've only had the car a week, and can't work it out.

i used one of the torx nuts twice Phil and even when tightened you could still pull the earth terminal away, I believe this was due to the pressure being applied from the torx bolt to the plastic of glovebox so I decided to use different earth location, hence one of the 10mm bolt heads under the side panel, good solid connection

Yes I can appreciate that Ronnie, the plastic will give, though when I tightened them up today I found I had enough torque on there to effectively not turn them any more, which was why I suggested using them. Mind you that may have been too tight as the torque spec for the glove box screws is only 2Nm (18Lbs/ins) which isnt particularly tight.

I'll try them tomorrow as I'll use a 6mm ring terminal for my chassis connection. Alternatively I know where negative is on one of the plugs on the BCM.

I'm pleased you posted up the fact you pulled that panel off and Helipilot suggested that video, as I really was thinking I'll never get to the cables at the back.

I'm doing a mode I've done with all my cars with front foglights (though I didn't get round to do it on my previous Kuga) and that is enable my front foglight to come on with main beam.

Thanks

Thanks for that Jim, unfortunately mine doesn't look like that, and it has 3 screws inside.

I was briefly very excited there.Smile

You need to remove the screws underneath, plus inside the top of the glovebox. Then the end dash panel need to be partially popped off at the end of the glovebox - there's a clip on it that mates into the glovebox side.

Once that's done, the whole glovebox pulls out- it's secured with clips.

Thanks David, yes once I'd seen the full video and Ronnie (Phoneman) had alerted me to the fact the dash end does just pop off, my apprehension disappeared. Only seeing two screws on the inside in the video also suggested mine (or the UK) was different because there are three screws on the inner underside on mine.

What really put me off was in one video I saw one side of the centre console off. Must review that and see why that appeared and shocked me.Smile

Any thats my short project this morning.

edit

Just reviewed the videos. The first one posted is correct, put off because I saw only 2 screws inside. The second video had half the dash and centre console off. That put totally off.
