It’s well known. How different material reacts to the paint. Gotta live with it I’m afraid

Nope, that is not right, I've got a St line in magnetic and the bumpers are a perfect match for the body. I'd be heading back to the dealer, that's more than an obvious mismatch.

Mine is white and there is a slight difference which I live with
But I think you have made a mistake by accepting the car and taking it away from the showroom

Even if they're physically the same fitting it's no use as the beams will dip the wrong way.

![]() So are they physically interchangeable? If so it maybe worth installing a secondhand pair from the USA. Someone on fordescape.org maybe able to source them from a breakers yard. |

2013 model would be a Mk2 wouldn't it? Wdeysel has posted the same question in the Mk2 forum http://www.kugaownersclub.co.uk/forum/can-you-activate-anti-hijack-auto-locking_topic8796_page8.html

![]() Hi, I purchased a modified ELM 327 unit, with the toggle switch, from ebay and I am battling to get it to connect to my 2013 Kuga. I have installed the drivers on the disc, but it does not want to connect to the vehicle. Could someone please assist me with the installation procedure and drivers, which work? I purchased the unit to use the Focccus software to switch the auto door lock function, mentioned in this forum. The firmware version is v1.5. Thanks. |

As far as drivers go (assuming you're using a Windows machine) I'd just Windows auto install the driver. You should also contact the person you bought it off or check their website for advice.

Its was just that the mounting of the foglight bulb is different between them!!
What is the thought for the reason for the peg, as per my post above?

Thank you for your replies.
They said that they have locked the shafts and therefore the timing can not be wrong. But I am not so sure about this as you mention it too. It is interesting to see how this ends.

Most of it is to do with light reflection from the different surface materials. If you move a bit to the side and take another photograph the match may well look perfect. I also have magnetic and when I walk around the car the colours do change slightly with the reflections. It doesn't bother me.

I'm not saying that's an answer to what you have an issue with. It will be interesting to hear what your main dealer has to say.

Non Kuga related chit chat : Motorcycle types here?

Just bought a Beta Rev 3 250 trials bike for some winter fun. Never thought trials would appeal - but an experience day was enough for me to want one and get into it more. Even better you can get a carrier to fit on the tow bar - so no trailer and all the hassles that go with it. Track day stuff can be a faff with stands, tyre warmers, kit etc. etc. so trials is a breath of fresh air.

Real road racing - love it - its a very ballsy sport compared to short circuit.
Great trumpet rebuild!

This has been bought up many times on the forum and I've said before it's my biggest bugbear with the Kuga. All Kugas suffer from this problem with Magnetic being the most pronounced and Frozen White hiding it the best.
It's partly down to the flare of the front wheel arch that, from some angles, the light reflections continue down to the bumper instead of staying at the top like they do on the rear arches. If you look you can see that the bumper is the same as the door.
The unusual thing with your car is the rear bumper. I've never seen that appearing to be mismatched before.

Well the 3 bulb holders have rubber "O" rings to keep out damp which also makes the holder tight to twist to remove, the fog light bulb is a H10 the same for the USA lamp but the USA lamp will be from a different manufacturer to Europe so probably just a different H10 mount.

If the pegs were to stop the bulb holders from turning and falling out due to vibration they must only turn in an anti-clockwise direction as nothing to stop them going the other direction.
Our American cousins would probably not be over excited at having to spend "Big Bucks" at a Ford dealer to change a $2 light bulb whereas here in the UK we just accept it don`t we - see here for their bulb change procedure Bulb change
The most sensible solution would be to remove the front end and remove the pegs so in future bulb replacement would be easier/cheaper but its a lot of trouble to go to just for a bulb change but when I did the sidelight the holder still fouled on the plastic sleeve the peg sits in, I got the bulb out but had to shorten the sleeve slightly in order to get the holder back in! and it would be a lot easier if there was enough wiring to the bulb holder to pull it away from the lamp easily, trying to pull a bulb out and re-fit a new one is not easy with one hand!
Nice one Ford!

Mk1 Technical : RPMs on start up

Subject: RPMs on start up
Posted: 23 Oct 2017 at 10:58am
Well back to square one im affraid.......
This morning it took 3 attempts to start..
But what i have noticed is that it sounds slightly different on starting.....
In other words to me when its going through that start up proceedure it sounds more quieter and smoother and more electronically sounding......
So im going to speak to the missus at lunch and most probably book it into ford for diagnostic and what they find......
Can somebody help answer this.......
A few months ago the mechanic explained to the missus how to do a DPF clean whilst driving the kuga over a few weeks we tried this twice and nothing seemed to come from the exhaust and the kuga didnt show anything on driving......
We did this on 2 x 25mins stints....
Now when the mechanic did a forced regen on his system it took over 30mins and threw loads and loads of soot and cr*p out......
So the question is the DPF a part ocvthe start up proceedure !
If so can it cause non start issues.......
Another point if somebody can help to clarify is what tole upon the start proceedure does the starter/alternator play....
Now as far as i understand is that the crankshaft sensor and the camshaft sensor talk to the ECU on start so the ECU knows to push fuel to fire up the engine.....
So does the starter actually crank the engine !
If so could the starter be at fault!......
And how do you diagnostic a fault starter....
