You can remove the pegs by pulling them out but its nigh on impossible with the bumper on you just can`t get hold of them I managed to get the sidelight one out but it took ages there just isn`t enough room to get in with tools to get hold of them.

I've not looked on mine, but is it possible to cut them off as they're not necessary. Or can you not get any tools close enough due to access issues.

Milenco Aero towing mirrors are in my opinion the best. They fit the Kuga perfectly and are very stable also after three years use they haven’t marked the mirrors on the car.

Demand for new petrol Kuga’s is high as a lot are sold on Motability. Since Motability introduced a price cap very few diesels are available on the scheme. I’ve owned two diesel power shift Kuga’s (163 & 180) and driven both petrol 150 & 182 and found both cars gutless loaded and both horrendously thirsty. Demand for used Kuga diesels is not bad but depreciation is high as there is loads for sale. I’ve just sold my Kuga, when I was looking around when I initially decided to change it a couple of dealers said had it been petrol powered they wouldn’t have taken it in part exchange as petrol models are very difficult to sell secondhand. It’s not just petrol Kuga’s, this applies to most petrol powered SUV type cars like the VW Tiguan, S Max, Galaxy, Kia Sportage and Nissan Qashqui which are all difficult to sell with petrol engines.

What car did you end up buying after the Kuga?

So are these pegs removable so the lamp can be rotated for removal and it necessitates stripping down in order to remove the pegs? Is this to prevent the lamps rotating due to vibration and coming out (and why only UK), otherwise it is a case of sharp practice revenue making.

If it was an easy job to inspect I'd have a look myself.

I see there is a different type for bulb mount for the fog-lamp bulb, what type is that or are they used for driving lamps over in the US

We bought a BMW 320D GT 5 Door M Sport 8 Speed Automatic. We wanted more interior space than the Kuga and went to look at a 3 Series Touring. The sales person showed us the GT which is longer than the saloon & the touring giving it much more rear passenger and luggage space (520 litres to Kuga 406 litres) We have had the BMW 3 weeks and are very happy with it especially the fuel consumption which on a recent motorway run it returned mid 50’s which is a massive improvement over the Kuga.

I'll be glad when this country is done with its diesel fetish for things other than tractors, buses and lorries.

There is more to life than 40 mpg. OK so diesel gives you that - fine. It also gives you a whole host of issues due to all the cr*p bolted onto it to make it 'clean', things that don't even exist on a petrol, things that very often go catastrophically wrong and cost a small  fortune to put right, looking at you EGR valve. DPF failure, Mr Dual mass flywheel.

In case people aren't listening, manufacturers are switching from diesel to Petrol at a rate of knots, hence all these small capacity turbo models (which do bring their own issues)

Shortly thereafter you'll get hybrid models coming out of your ears, then a little later we'll all be leccy.

Move with the times. Diesels glory days are long gone. Sorry bout that.

The only thing I found with changing from the Jeep to the narrower Kuga is that I had to buy the Milenco longer mirror arms to maintain a good rearward view down both sides of the caravan.

I didn’t realise you could get different length arms. I think my mirrors must have been supplied with longer arms as I don’t need to fully extend the arms for a good view. Certainly the best towing mirrors I’ve had.

Has come up many times. Try the Modifations sub-forum where there are several posts. I’m sure there is also a video link in there, shows it can be done, discusses how to do it, but unfortunately in Russian.

When there is a credible alternative to diesels particularly for towing then I’m sure we’ll all be jumping on the bandwagon. Personally I’ve never had any issues with any of the “cr*p” bolted on any of the huge number of diesels I’ve owned over the years. I’d be far more worried if I had all the “cr*p” bolted on to the hybrid stuff that currently available most of which wouldn’t have guts to tow my caravan out of the storage site.

I have been driving Diesel 4x4`s for many years have had Mitsubishi, Land Rover x2, Toyota x2 Ford x2 never had any mechanical breakdown yet, the EGRV is easily dispensed with using a blank at very little cost, my 20 year old Porsche 911 (ahem petrol!) has a DMF it was replaced @ 90K miles, I only replaced it as I replaced the whole clutch assembly, DPF failure is down to continuous short journeys by the owner, continuous short journeys causes lots of problems on petrols as well.

Remember where pollution was with petrol engines before lead free, fuel injection, ECU`s and cat`s etc were introduced - read some facts on modern day Diesels Dirty Diesels -really!

As for 3 cylinder FI petrol engines lets see what sort of mileage you get out of one.

The body coloured bumpers on all of my previous cars have matched but this car is well of... I would upload photos but am struggling on the know how lol...
