Mk2 General Discussion : First service interval

Mine started doing the same recently- a couple of months after the first 12mth service was done. My guess is they forgot to do a reset of some sort when it was serviced.

You can reset it by turning the ignition to ON (not starting the engine), wait for the warning to pop up and then simultaneously hold down the accelerator and brake pedal for around 30 seconds. It should display something about resetting the oil service warning during that 30 seconds. You need to keep holding the pedals down for it to be reset. (I checked the oil level was okay first.)

Is it a petrol or diesel engine and do the diesels have a high oil level alert? (For detecting diluted oil.)

Think you did exeptionaly well that what you have to do iff good fuel consumption is important
To you, there would appear to be plenty drivers out there trying to get every mile they can
out of a gallon of juice.

First check the oil then speak to your dealer service department don't go reseting warnings
Unless you are sure it's been missed at service .

If the car was first registered Dec 16 and only covered 4k how can anything have been missed at service, as first service isn't even due for 5 months or 8.5k miles. Surely it is safe to reset the warning under those conditions as long as the oil level is ok?

I think the dealer should have reset the oil warning before the car was delivered and obviously forgot to do it.

Thanks folks, yes the dealer had forgotten to reset the service clock when they first registered the car.  The service warning was responding to the build date of the associated ECU.  Dealer has restarted the clock for me.  I will have to put the next service date in my diary because the reset restarts the 12k/12month clock

I went for the Mk1 purely because I couldn't afford a Mk2, but I much prefer the front end of the Mk1 to to the Mk2 in the flesh.

What opinion I will share though is that the back of the Mk2.5 (Mk3?) is the worst out of all of them.

If the oil has been diluted or contaminated the oil change light will come on just as this one has it needs to go to service for a check up and first service is pre delivery inspection where all those things are checked and reset if necessary don't lose your warranty for the
sake of a trip to garage it may have a head gasket away or some thing similar

Does the Intercooler fitted to a 2ltr Euro 6 Tdci engine used on any other fords?
Looking to upgrade it if possible with a alloy one but unable to find aftermarket options for kuga mk2.5.

That's one of the reasons I now stick to OEM filters.

I've had similar problems with after-market air filters (not sealing correctly) and oil filters (which caused timing chain rattle at low RPM- I'm guessing from low oil pressure?) The original filters usually aren't much dearer than top quality after-market filters and your dealer can't try to refuse any warranty coverage if you're using OEM filters. Wink

How about fuse 119 "Luggage compartmentauxiliary power socket"?
I read Fuse 109 as being for both internal cigar lighter sockets. front and one for the rear seats on the back of the center console.

Of course it's a service all levels are checked wheels off brakes checked etc checked for faults faults rectified body checked for faults scratches dents door and panel and alignment
possibly the only proper service it will get

This service is often missed or rushed this is often where the problems you hear on here stem from what else was missed when I pick up a new car I check as much as I can to find evidence that pdi vservice has been done.

P's you will often find when you check your en voice that you have paid sweetly for it .

No matter what, I have no entries in my service manual, saying my car had any service done, and i still do not think its a service. Then you are going into details and then you probably would call build date and their check a service too. Lets just say, you get called to service when you are required, what they do to the car BEFORE you own it, is not in the book and you can call it maintenance or checking, or preparation for sale.

"Preparation For Sale" I like that term, sums it up nicely.
