Hi

Do you have much traffic calming around you? I used to live in a street with speed bumps all down it -not full width sleeping policemen but a bump in the center of each lane. They were dreadful for pushing the wheels out and we had to keep getting the tracking adjusted. Moved to a posher address now - no bumps, just pot-holes!

Is it the Ford kit? You need to activate it in the Body Control Module as well as physically wiring it in. There are a couple of other threads on here about it. Basically you could get a Ford dealer to do it or DIY using a suitable OBD2 interface with a laptop and either FoCCCus or ForScan software.

Thanks murcod.

It's actually an OEM product by Erich Jaeger and seems to be great quality. I have ended up pulling most of the rear of the car apart and installed the module and basic wiring as per instructions.

I was shocked to find (unless I missed the connector) that the vehicle doesn't have CAN bus. Considering its a 2015 with the electronic pack and yet CAN bus isn't installed. Does this sound right??

That being the case I have run the wiring to the front of the vehicle for wiring into the OBD plug but, would rather allow an auto elec to finish off the few wires left. The instructions are a little grey and I am unsure if changes will have to be made to the BCM.

Hi again, I read that post but i think my problem is different. The temp reading is almost correct in my case, is just the update time linked with speed which drive me crazy. My temp is stuck until I reach a certain speed for a certain time, and, since I'm always stuck in the traffic it means my temperature is always stuck :)
I'm the only one? Anyone found a solution?
Thanks!
Ivan

Feathering is supposed to be caused by poor alignment, particularly when 4 wheel alignment was introduced (my MK2 Mondeo was my introduction to 4 wheel alignment I remember). The cyclic humming is caused by the very part of the tyre that's there to prevent humming or any resonance, the different sized tread blocks on the edge of the tyre.
If you run your hand round the inside edge of the tyre you'll find in one direction more than the other, there is a tendency for your hand to snag on the tread and that it snags more easy on the smaller blocks than the larger blocks. I'm guessing the smaller blocks deform/wear more easily simply because they are smaller and the cyclic humming is these larger and smaller blocks as they meet the road. Isn't so pronounced at the front of course because of the effect of steering rounding the edges.

The handbook does say swap the wheels every 3000-6000 miles and wonder how many of us do this at such short intervals, if at all. I did on the Mondeo at every service, Only time I've swapped the position on the Kuga has been when swapping for winter wheels. Continentals can go corner to corner when refitting but my winter wheels are directional so front to rear.

Iff it's slow to crank check alternator and battery if it's like yours starts then stops put a meter on battery check voltage when cranking should recover at once,if voltage to low at this stage it will cut off fuel.
Other wise strange a decent run is usually beneficial to the car.

I thought I would share my findings after having a demo car for the weekend.

Zetec 1.5 TDCI 120 PS Manual.18" 5 spoke alloys. Convenience Pack. The car has 1200 miles on the clock.

I`d have to say I am a little disappointed as I could not get anywhere close the Fords published MPG for the Kuga.

I have done 245 miles over the weekend, mainly "A" roads and dual carriageways with 3 adults in the car and a little luggage in the boot.

My driving style was light acceleration and changing gear before 2000 rpm at all times and cruising at 60mph (sorry if you may have been behind me)

On arriving back home the trip computer was showing an average of 53.4 mpg. My own calculations were slightly less at 51.18 mpg. Fords published combined mpg is 64.2 mpg

I am wondering is this good/bad or expected ?

Any comments of other experiences would be greatly appreciated.

Just to add, loved driving the car, as it was comfy and easy to drive with a good high driving position giving a good all round view, and being somewhat different to the Mondeo I currently drive.

Hi folks, I bought a new Kuga 2.0 Titanium registered Dec 2016, now 8 months old and only covered 4k miles.  The dash warning 'Oil Change' now appears when the engine is started.  This seems early to me, I thought they were 12 months or 12k miles interval.  Have I misunderstood this?

I did the Haldex service this morning. It took a lot longer than i thought it would have but I struggled to get the filter out.
Anyway, doing a bit of digging online, the kuga transfer box does have a special oil specified. No provision for draining but tops up like the rear diff. It will be a suck it out and refill job.

I'm surprised more on here haven't done this themselves.

Any one had problem with rear cigar lighter 12 v outlet in the boot.

I plugged my fridge into it and it blow, checked the book for the fuse, fuse 109 foot well area, checked the fuse and its fine Not blown, checked the cigar lighter on the center counsel and this works fine, pulled the fuse and the center counsel stopped working.
Fuse 109 is a 20amp fuse and the book reads as if this fuse covers both cigar counsel and rear 12v outlet, but the 12v outlet has no power going to it at all, the book does not refer to any other fuses.
any thoughts help experiences etc. will be gratefully accepted.

You should have CAN bus in it. There's a factory option called "trailer pre-pack" (or similar) that I think all Aussie Kugas have standard. I believe that includes the required wires for the trailer wiring to plug into (but I could be wrong.)

You can check on ETIS https://www.etis.ford.com/vehicleRegSelector.do by putting your VIN number in  to see what is fitted for your Kuga.

Edit: it's "With Towing Pre-Pack".
