Hello All,
I'm going to start working my way through all the fluids on my Kuga starting tomorrow morning, a bit at a time.
I have all the kit to do the Haldex and rear diff and next weekend I want to do the gearbox and transfer box.
I don't see much on here about transfer box related posts so was wondering if anyone had changed the transfer box fluid and any pifalls to watch out for.
While im on it, it appears the transfer box uses 75w90 gear oil, which I probably have here, but the gearbox itself seems to use something a bit special. Any recommendations on that front?

Thanks in advance.

Success. Towbar installed today, now just having to cut out the rear bumper.

Has anyone installed their own CANBUS wiring? I have a kit however a little reluctant...

Transfer box?  It doesn't have one as far as I know.

I suppose the Haldex performs some of the functionality of a traditional 4WD transfer box.

This is the part I'm on a about.

I used to have a Jaguar X type before the Kuga and these bits were notourious for failing due to lack of lubrication.

This might be a wee bit daft, but have you looked at the simple things like wheel balance? An out of balance wheel (maybe a lost balance weight) can cause a lot of vibration which does change with speed/acceleration. I don't tow but would guess this might also amplify such vibration.

Hi, I also have a similar problem with my fog lights, also my twin reversing lights. If I switch them on and off 3 times they all work as they should. Until needed again whenI have to repeat the process. I have the Ford specific wiring kit fitted by the tow bar supplier and all tested correctly on his test kit. The Manufacture supplied a new fully tested kit but when fitted it made no difference. Has anyone fitted a bypass kit into their caravan, as previously stated I do not want to upset the vehicle wiring.
Any advise would be appreciated.

Dave.

Can anyone tell me if it is possible to fit Mk2 roof rails to a Mk1 or are the rails model specific?
Any info where to get the best deals for roof rails if not interchangeable
Cheers

No they're not as they have different fitting locations.

I've moved your post into the existing Mk1 roof rail thread where's there's been plenty of discussion regarding retro fitting them and places to source them from.

Ah OK, I didn't realise it was separate to the gearbox.  Although now I think about I guess it would have to be otherwise you'd need a special gearbox for AWD.  Mind you I do wonder why the Haldex functionality isn't part of that component; too much weight at the front perhaps?

Mk2 Technical : Outside Air Temperature Display

Hi everyone, first of all sorry for my english, I'm from italy and I'm a new owner of a Ford Kuga MY2017 1.5 EcoBoost Titanium
I got a simple question.
It seems my Outside Air Temperature Display is not working properly :(
When i come outside from my home box the temperature show 24 grade, which is correct, well let's say outside is at least 36 grade, well my Kuga is stuck at 24 grade until i can drive at 90/100 Km-h for some minutes.
I've done a lot of research and what i found is this extract from a 2013-2014 Ford Escape Repair Manual

Is this correct? It can be applied to a KUGA MY2017?

Outside Air Temperature Display

The Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor provides the Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) data used for the outside air temperature display in the IPC. The Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor is hardwired to the PCM through separate input and return circuits. The PCM provides a reference voltage to the Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor and monitors the change in voltage resulting from changes in resistance as determined by outside air temperature. The PCM filters the Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) input and sends the BCM the air ambient temperature filtered message over the HS-CAN. The BCM sends the air ambient temperature filtered message to the IPC over the MS-CAN.

Due to the location of the Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) sensor in the front grill area, it is greatly influenced by heat generated from the engine compartment at low vehicle speeds and at engine idle. For this reason the outside air temperature value displayed in the IPC does not update in the upward (hotter) direction under 33 km/h (20 mph). This update strategy is used because the PCM is unable to determine whether the increase in temperature is truly from an ambient temperature rise or by heat generated from the engine compartment.

The outside air temperature display in the IPC updates in the upward (hotter) direction under either of the following situations:

- if the vehicle is driven over 33 km/h (20 mph) continuously without the vehicle speed dropping below 33 km/h (20 mph) for approximately 90 seconds.

- if the vehicle is allowed to sit with the engine off for approximately 6 hours (the outside air temperature display in the IPC immediately updates to reflect the current ambient conditions since the engine has cooled sufficiently and no longer has an effect on the outside air temperature sensor reading).

NOTE: If the vehicle speed drops below 33 km/h (20 mph) before the outside air temperature display in the IPC begins to update, the PCM logic resets and the time starts over.

Because this filtering strategy exists, it may be necessary to drive the vehicle continuously above 33 km/h (20 mph) for approximately 90 seconds when observing the outside air temperature display operation. After the vehicle has been driven above 33 km/h (20 mph) for 90 seconds, the outside air temperature display in the IPC starts to rise (filter upward), increasing toward the actual outside air temperature. Depending on the difference between what the outside air temperature is displaying in the IPC and the actual outside temperature, it can take several minutes for the outside air temperature display in the IPC to reach the outside temp.

The outside air temperature display in the IPC does not filter in the downward (colder) direction and always displays the coldest temperature detected by the sensor even when the vehicle is stationary. When the outside Ambient Air Temperature (AAT) is lower than the temperature displayed in the IPC, the IPC immediately updates the displayed temperature downward to reflect the colder ambient air temperature, even at idle.

Thank you all in advance!

If the wiring kit is correct but you have a problem with caravan hooked up then contact Sargent electrics they do a thing called a VLM module.... They do different ones for different manufacturers of cars and vans cured a problem I had with my mondeo and sterling Eccles

Its hard to believe that having all the electrics going through a OEM module that can current sense a short circuit or even just an overload, it cant accommodate whether you have one foglight or two.

So what does the bypass kit actually do? Is it bypassing the self same module thats designed to protect the foglight circuit? Curious.

Hi folks.
I'm new to the page. A ford lover having owned many transit vans from mk2 to my current custom limited.
With plenty other cars as well.
I had a kuga on hire in 2012 and loved it so much I always wanted one but price and having to use money for other things meant I couldn't have one till now.
So just bought a 09 titanium with 55,000 miles private sale one owner for £6.500.00 which I thought was a good price.
Think I need to. Change the tyres though as its a bit rolly on the road. Looked them up online (Landsail) and lot of bad reviews.
Any way had to put new battery in both remotes.
And had engine carbon clean and dpf cleaned at same time and have to say it is a totally different car to drive now.
Much smoother and more responsive.
Thinking of new alloys to put better tyres on and wondered if any suggestions on wheels and tyres.
Looked from a lot of your posts so sorry for repeating anything.
Also thinking of changing radio for Bluetooth phone if any suggestions.
Seen a few ready to fit in Halfords.

Welcome to the forum.
I would think the logic from the 2013-2014 Ford Escape manual would still apply to your 2017 model.
However, why not just take it back to the dealer who sold you the car.

Hi Ozekuga, of course I did.
They dont have a clue.
They changed the sensor, but nothing changed.
I'm just curious if any other Kuga owner notice this strange behaviour...
