We had our Focus Mk2 2l Diesel for 10 years without any issues, buying a caravan forced us into a bigger car.

I wanted Auto and AWD, the Kuga ticked all the boxes for me.

Got a cracking deal on a Kuga Titanium X 2013 Powershift will all the extras (I honesly don't believe the dealer had priced it right!).

Solo it's a great drivers car, recently flung it around the A701 coming back from Edinburgh and it was very well planted. Tows our Sterling caravan faultlessly and it's a nice place to sit.

Reversing camera and sensors are very well thought out, it all just works as it should.

Not to small and not to big as to be cumbersome when parking and tight side streets etc.

Next car will either be another Kuga or an Edge.

Ok,
now i feel really stupid, if this is it.

Reading danish forums, it seems that using an adapter from 13 to 7 socket, could cause issues with getting rear sensor disabled, so cabling is not really the problem. The cheap 13-7 socket adapter i use could be it.  Anyone got a comment on this, wiki's seems to show several 7socket versions, and do Ford really customize this socket just like their OBD socket is?

I would ask the supplying garage to source and release it, you bought it in good faith.

Is it still possible to drive the car with the lack of steering assistance?
Do you know what fails on the steering or did they just tell you 'rack'

It is very heavy to drive. Much heavier than a car without power steering. You can steer when the car is moving, but not too fast and it is nearly impossible to park as the steering is too heavy to move when the car is stationery.

The diagnostic was "Steering Gear Failure" they said and it needed a new rack. The new rack was going to delivered today and fitted by the end of the day. I heard nothing so I rang at 5.30pm and was told that "they had all gone home" and to call at 8.00am tomorrow.

It is a business car. so I tried to get a courtesy car but they said they booked out for weeks ahead and I should get a courtesy car from my breakdown service. They said the are only a franchise and I should contact Ford Customer Service.

Terrible service

Hi, im new to this on here and hoping you guys might be able to help me. sorry if this is in the wrong category. I have a 2014 kuga just had service couple days ago and had the filters all changed. nothing new there other than car wouldn't start once they changed fuel filter. after topping it up started ok. after couple days the car now takes anywhere from 2 to 8 turn overs before it will finally start. i'm not technically knowledgeable on cars so apologies if i sound thick, just wondered if anyone else has had this and if there is a problem linked to service perhaps or maybe just a coincidence. thanks all.

I would take it back to the service people as it looks likely that they have not fitted the fuel filter correctly.
Don't try yourself, let them put right their shoddy work.

My 2010 just came up with the dreaded awd malfunction, Codes showing are P186E-20 and P1889-20 which are differential oil filter leakage and transmission oil pressure pump performance problem, Is this something that a haldex oil and filter change will solve??(is the filter cleanable or is it a through away item?) Also how much oils required for an oil change??
Is it completely safe to run with the pump unplugged or fuse pulled??

Any advice appreciated
Cheers jack

It should be good after you change oil, filter and clean the little mesh on the end of the pump.
Filter is paper element. So in the bin it goes.
Oil is usually sold in 1L packages. But I believe only about 0.7L is required.
You can run with the pump unplugged or fuse removed. However you should have no ESP at that time.

I had to upgrade our towcar due to the purchase of a heavier caravan and was looking for an SUV with a kerb weight of about 1700kg.

I only found 2 cars that fell into this requirement, and at the right price range, were a Honda CRV and the Kuga. The Tucson, Kodiaq, etc. were too new (expensive, limited choice), Volvo, etc. were grossly overpriced for what they are.

After a test drive of the various cars the Kuga won hands down.

I managed to get a 2014 2.0l diesel Tit X Sport, with all the goodies and only 8800 miles on it, for a good price in February. It has every thing I wanted, and more.

As stated in the previous comments, is a good sized car with a comfortable driving positon and solid drive both solo and towing.

As someone who tows a caravan I will stick with diesel engines for pulling power and economy.

I have yet to find any alternative reasonably priced car that has sufficient range, power and economy to tow my caravan, so the diesel Kuga will always be my choice of car.

Yup. Take it back and get them to sort it.  Sounds like it's getting air in the supply which (assuming it's a diesel) could cause damage to the fuel pump.

I've just got the new Titanium with the standard Ford Sync and Nav system (17 plate) and I am having issues with my IPODs. Both worked perfectly well in my 14 plate Mondeo so I know they are both working. I am having 2 issues, 1 the larger 160gb one regularly locks up and freezes after I have restarted the car and the other which affects both is driving me crazy. If I set the IPOD to play an album it will play through as long as I don't restart the car. After a restart the IPODs default to songs in alphabetical order and forget that they were playing an album. I've never had this in any USB linked car before. I've tried updating the software on both IPODs and no change, I've tried new cables and both USB slots and no change. I've spoken to the lease company who have referred me back to Ford and they are looking into it. Has anyone else had this issue?

Filter not sealed properly or fuel pipes not clipped to filter full. It has a air leak somewhere repeat the process taking care to seat seals and pipes correctly .
