Hi all
I'm a newbie and have a Kuga with a diamondbright sticker on, question is I live on the beach ( well a few feet away) and car is getting a light dusting of sand on blowy days, will it hurt to blow sand off from a distance with a fine spray with a jet wash or hose or am I at risk of sandblasting the finish off?
It's panther black..... not an ideal mix with yellow sand lol

Personally I would use a soft hosing to soak and rinse away sand before washing normally, definitely wouldnt power wash until I was pretty sure sand was off, especially on black

I wonder why its white, they use to use a sort of green-brown jute or black material, not quite as obvious and wont look as dirty eventually or when a dirty wheel is placed in the well.

Now you got me curious what colour lurks under my spare.

Edit

The boot in mine is soft rubber lined, however I can feel an additional patch of softness under the rubber where there would be your white material. So it looks like they fit it anyway even if they also fit the full rubber lining.

My car is an August 2016 model, and apart from a slightly altered steering wheel and centre console it all looks pretty much the same. Mine has the 8" screen but the display is different. I still love mine though despite the reviews.

I fitted one of those and I'm overall pretty pleased with it, given that it a Chinese job. I had a pioneer in my last car and consider it better than that. It was a pig to fit nicely though and the one I went for was meant to be a custom fit.
I did quite a write up on here on how to make it fit well. I will find the post in a minute.
The only thing I would recommend is go for the oct core one if you can. The quad core is quite slow booting up.

I got the soft rubber (noise reducing material) but i lifted it to see the white material glued to my car, so its for not meant to be removed.

Maybe i do need to ask my Ford dealer, i am very curious why it is there, and for what purpose.

It might be designed to get dirty as a get out of jail card for Ford ? like the little qc stickers concealed inside new clothes

Ah OK. So are there Kuga's without the rubber lining but have the little bit of material in place?

We ordered our new Kuga on the 3rd of May, a ST 1.5 tdci with power shift in Race Red.
The only extra, was the darkened rear windows.
We were told at the time this would be a factory order, and it would be aboutt 10 weeks for delivery.
At present we are looking at the 5th of August for delivery to dealer, and by the time the PDI is carried out, that could take another week, so we are now 4 weeks over the estimated time.
I can live with the car being late, but what gets up my nose is the lack of contact and info from the dealer. Any info gained, i have had to chase up, on 5 separate occasions I have asked ofr the order No. and VIN No. so I could track the car myself.............I'm still waiting.
If this is Edinburgh's premier Ford dealer, I hate to think what the other two are like.

I do not think so.. The noise reduction material was already there in my 2016 model, and is not found in other Ford model (except Vignale), so they were trying to lower noise in this model, as im told.

Good on Ford.

As a mater of interest on inspection of mine early this morning I noticed the wheel well could do with a clean out with the vacuum, couldn't do it at 7.00am this morning so I just done the clean up. I can confirm miens white too.

To save having to 'dig' in an emergency, I have always pulled out the towing hook eye and the emergency diesel filler from under the boot cover and placed them at the side of the boot. Having never taken the spare wheel out until now, I saw the jack and with it was a 2nd towing eye in the polystyrene with the jack, so I have 2 it seems. My first towing eye was with the Diesel filler in the polystyrene moulding. I've left the second with the jack. My car also came with 2 locking wheel nut sockets too, both the same.

Don't know what my current one has, but I think I've seen this patchy thing in other Fords we've had. Just asked a workmate, his '13 Fiesta has it

Originally ordered my ST Line Ecoboost on 7th May.  After chasing the dealer a few times I got sent a screenshot from the Vista system on 1st June showing that the car would be at the dealers for 15th July.  This was great news, until I noticed that they had placed the order for a diesel engine instead!

We then had to place a new order on 2nd June, which is currently showing a projected build month of September.  I'm hoping to take delivery in September/October, but at the moment don't really have any clue of when it will arrive.

Anyone out there who has recently placed an order, get the order details from Vista as soon as you can to make sure the right spec has been ordered

Mk1 Technical : leak from somewhere underneath

Hi all, new to the forum.
We have an 11 plate Kuga and we've noticed an oily sheen behind the car when ithas been raining. There are no fuel or oil smells and it feels like water.
I've attached a photo of where I think it is coming from, again this doesn'tsmell and feels like water. All the levels under the bonnet are fine.
Can anyone identify this location and the source of the leak?  It looks like there is too much there for water from the AC?
Any help is much appreciated, next stop, the garage.

Mk2 Technical : Power Steering Malfunction

I got a dashboard message on my 64 reg Titanium (with auto parking etc) "Steering Assist Malfunction Service Required" a couple of times, accompanied by failure of power steering. Each time switching off and on again cleared the fault. I took it in to the dealership and they spent a day "running tests".  They said nothing was wrong and was "probably just a glitch". I have since found out that this was a common issue on the MK1, but the guys at the dealership acted like they had never seen it before! Fortunately a week later it has failed "hard" and is at the dealership awaiting a new steering rack under warranty. Fortunately it was at the end of a long journey and I was only a couple of miles away from home.

The car will be out of warranty in 3 months so I feel lucky it totally failed.

Message is don't be fobbed off by the "glitch" story if you get this message it will fail sooner or later.

I've located the problem. Looks like someone has worked in here before and forgotten to put a cover back. every time the fan is on, AC or not its blowing hot air straight onto the metal plate which is right behind the drivers side kick panel. Now I just need to get the part number from Ford and hope it is  availale.

The weird and wonderful way that Ford operates its spec list is probably more of a barrier than anything. I bought my Kuga a year old and it was a real issue to work out what goodies we had, even after I found out how to look it up on ETIS (that has to be deliberately designed to present the information as confusingly as possible). However even allowing for this the spec offered seems generally good compared to the direct competition.

Size was an issue for us. We were aiming to downsize (from a C4 Picasso) but the smaller options we looked at - Juke, Captur, Mokka, Ecosport, FIAT 500X - all seemed too much of a compromise. The Kuga is not as big and awkward as some of its rivals yet gives good interior space, and feels agile and responsive.

I am not into towing, so the Kuga's ability in this respect was not a factor I tested. I am guessing it is a key requirement for many owners so how do people rate it for this?

I was originally intending to buy a nearly new Hyundai Tuscon, cant afford a new car, based solely on reviews.

I went for a test drive and really liked it but they didn't have the spec I was after.. not at the price I was willing to pay anyway. The salesman had a 2014 Kuga Titanium with all the toys I was after and asked if I wanted to try that, which I did. I loved it.

The engine didn't seem as eager as the Hyundai nor the gear shift as good, there's a longer travel in the Ford, but the driving position was better as was the interior. I got the feeling I was more cacooned in the Kuga which I liked.

I didn't buy that car but it got me looking for the one I have now, it isn't perfect, but I'm delighted with it.
