I've ordered a sill pad, I'm not new to laying under cars but newer ones seem to be a lot less substantial underneath.

I'd have used my ramps but need the car level and wheel off to do the gearbox oil, think ramps will be handy for the engine oil changes though!.

Saw substantial damage done to a Nissan GTR-35 by jacking and stands in wrong places so weary of damaging our Kuga..

Hello all

New to the forum and new kuga owner!

Bought it from a friend about a week ago. Had it serviced today and they also changed the brake fluid.

Only problem is on the way home from the garage, the esp light came up Amber and stays there. Haven't had this problem before. Car seems to drive normally. I tried resetting in the menu, however it comes back on a few mins later. It's an 08 mark 1.

Any help would be grand! :-)

No just that they were the wrong ones and didn't go any further, I know when the door mechanism was taking off the drivers side the clicking stopped, I bought a brand new one but when fitted the noise Reappeared. They said to me they had a a donor car and swapped parts over but again jst as you said I need to know that they done it. Yeh from another car sure the engine was running but it was back in January so can't be sure. It's strange that the key fob doesn't work when the fuse has been put back but when it's out it works no problem. Could it be an ECU problem maybe?

This should be a real conundrum for the motoring press. They clearly don't like the Kuga - even the friendliest reviews describe it as good rather than great and they all point to other SUVs as a better buy. And yet it continues to sell in large numbers, regularly featuring in the top 10 monthly sales. So - are they right and all of us who buy the Kuga getting it wrong? Or are they missing something.

Most of us are members here because we have bought a Kuga. So - are we all wrong? I don't think so and am interested to find out what made the Kuga the car of choice for us.

I had decided that I wanted an SUV with an automatic box and all-wheel drive. A surprising number of rivals either did not offer this (or could not offer an example to drive) while several others could but for £20,000 or more in extra cost. A few were just nasty to drive. The Kuga fully met my needs, has smart clean looks, drives nicely, and has a perfectly good spec. Three months in and I am still wholly happy with it (well apart from Fords strange decision not to equip the Titanium X with parking sensors as standard).

So what decided you to buy your Kuga?

For me in Australia, it's the most powerful SUV in it's class.
I didn't go for all the toys as they end up being more things to go wrong.
If I'd had the choice I would've ordered a manual gearbox.
This is the first SUV I've had, would I order another? Probably not.

It works fine on mine, I haven't noticed any damage from using it. The split allows it to fit on either side of the sill seam like the factory jacks do.

(I also discovered it will attach itself very firmly to the underside of the vehicle. So well that if you forget to pull it off a Ford Service Tech may discover it at your next servicing and kindly leave it in the boot. Embarrassed Oops.)

There is a chance that the cabling could be there if other RHD countries such as Australia have the sub. Personally I'd doubt it though.

LOL Ford Australia are too tight to tick the option list for any form of alarm system on even the dearest spec level sold locally. Also no dead locking, no acoustic glass ...... So, no, there's no sub-woofer fitted.

I don't think there's been any change with the new Escape line up. If anything they've "diluted" the range by offering more lower spec levels eg. the mid range Trend was previously only sold with the 2.0l EcoBoost (or diesel) with AWD. Now they're offering cheaper Trend level options with the smaller 1.5l and FWD (IIRC.)

(When I first saw a 9 speaker Sony system was fitted I was expecting a sub, but the odd number quoted is of course due to the centre speaker. For a stock system I think it's okay. It's the first vehicle I've owned where I haven't wanted to immediately fit better speakers.)

Thats good if it does, just looks like the groove is so deep that the pad would touch the side mouldings. My pad is flat but hard enough to prevent the seam indenting the rubber and of course its lifts along the full diameter of the pad as your will.

Still horrible to use though.

January, is that when all this started?

Jump starting a car while the donor engine is running I would never ever do, even if the AA man or whoever does this and I would contest the instructions in the Ford handbook too. Two alternators and 2 batteries connected together, no thank you, and its not necessary.

Hi Liam. OK the video shows exactly what your saying. The door locking I'm not too sure what to think on that but the fact that the door modules take the door lock position via switches so this again looks like a module problem from any door.

So bearing in mind that the front passenger window doesn't operate the window but the mirror instead, we could be almost be certain that the module is damaged. Why none of the windows can be operated from the drivers side could be the drivers side door module and/or both rear modules as well as both front.

Just so I can get my head round what works and doesn't work when fuse is in or not.

What is the fuse number and location your pulling out

So operating front passenger window from the drivers side doesn't work, but does it operate the passenger door mirror instead (like the passenger side switch)?

In what way does your key fob work when fuse is out.

Ignoring the terrible english Wink

For me it came down to value for money. We bought our Kuga at 8 months old and 2000 miles, with a massive £9k knocked off the list price. You can spend double what we paid for an Audi Q3, BMW X3 or Volvo XC60 and you wouldn't get the spec we have got in the Kuga.

I accept that it's a Ford and some of the plastics won't be as good quality, but I also know that the Kuga is a reliable machine which is more than you can say for some 'premium' manufacturer products.

Reviews tend to be based on the list price of the vehicle. The outcome may well be different if you factor in that you can generally knock 20% off Ford's list price.

My recently purchased titanium x sport with active cruise kept displaying a fault message and the cruise would turn off. I took it to a local main dealer assuming the worst but amazingly having kept it over night and explaining that the front bumper had to come off they found the sensor to be loose and they felt it was like it from new. I wonder if this should have been found on the rac inspection as it was a ford direct sale?

How old is the car?
If it's fairly new I would think the ACC wouldn't have worked from day one so the inspector should have found it.

If the other manufacturers made a similar size to the Kuga (note, not Ford make a similar size to the other manufactures) and the build was as good as the other manufacturers, I'd still buy the Kuga if it was similarly priced to the press preferred. I don't need anything bigger even when it was loaded with 300kg of electronics in the boot.

Ford just need to finish things off instead of thinking it will do half finished.
