Respect due to you. Great informative write-up, not to mention the pictures. How long did this take you to do the service, and had you seen it done before or was it your first involvement with dis-assembling the Haldex, Regards, Paul.

hello,

I'd like to know if it is possible to carry a longboard (2m50) inside the Kuga 2.
In fact is it possible to lower the front passenger seat until it will create a space to put the long board ?
Thanks for your replies

Well this was my first meeting with anything to do with the Haldex. But since I have gatherred information and studied this unit from september last year, I was confident enough to take this on.

To be honest, the most time consuming was getting the driveshaft off.
I really took my time and was very relaxed when I did this.
It took me about 4h from the time I drove in the garage to the time I drove out.
Set up was about 30 minutes and removing the driveshaft was about 1h. Then about half an hour for removing the Haldex because I had to find a combination of sockets and wrenches to remove the bolts. Then 1h of cleaning everything and 1h to reassemble.
I learned from a close friend who is a mechanic, that the reason the oil is such thick and bad is water.
This means that somehow water has found its way inside the system. I think I just have to change the oil more frequently from now on. Because short period of time the water wont do anything. But I drove 5 years with the same oil...

I know what you mean, the output is very low, but if you press the button to direct the air to your face it is better.

whats 857 on the clock mean Fil, is that distance to empty after you refilled. Just under 40 to the gallon...not bad i suppose but id have hoped for better....where do you get your "real" speed from ?

857 is the miles the car has actually done. Real speed taken from a Satnav.

Just done Motorway round trip, Newcastle to Leicester, about 1 mile was off Motorway (office to office) Started with full tank and reset trips. Achieved 42.9 MPG ! by far the best ever, car now has just over 17,000 miles. However, this was helped by about 30 miles of 50mph roadworks around Nottingham (15 each way give or take) that saw the MPG rise and rise.
At fill up, Miles to empty showed 450. With whats left in the tank it should achieve 510 +/-

It shows driving at a crawl has its benefits !

It is probably the Grande Colonia , which is a Grimaldi Lines ship. They seem to be the main carrier for Ford.

It is at present off the north west coast of Spain heading for Southampton where it is due on the 14th.

If you want to have a look try vesselfinder.com. Hope your car gets to you soon.

Cheers Hugh.

The switches are usefully hidden behind the steering wheel - I thought on LHD they were still on the right Smile

Ah, sorry, I thought you were referring to the Mk2. On my previous Mk1, they were indeed on the right, as per the photo.

Whilst it may seem a strange suggestion, I wonder if some Kugas are more susceptible than others. Mine has passed the 30,000 mile mark and is still on the original set of rear Bridgestones. The noise is nowhere near what some on the forum describe. Yes its there but not intrusive at all and not at a level that would even need a mention to a passenger, let alone an explanation.

Hope those with problems get them sorted without incurring too much (if any) expense.

Jon

I just purcased a dashbord cam (sorry if this is not the right forum) to be mounted besides the rear mirror. It requires +/- 12V to be supplied when motor is running. Is there a proper power tapping point nearby? Would really avoid routing a cable all the way to the centre console. Tdci 140hp 2010 model titanium/individual. Any clue?

Wow I was actually just thinking of buying a new Kuga but certainly won't be now

I wouldn't say it was the garages fault, however Ford as a company
When parts are unavailable it's obviously something the garage can't access, must be frustrating for the garage you put it to mot being able to give you your car back any earlier

I wouldn't however be cancelling finance payments as that can damage your credit rating

If you want rid of the car I would, see if the dealer will take it back..... Eg reject the car as it is not fit for purpose

If not I would be looking to ford to refund you any payments you have made on the car when it's been in the garage
