Hi all

New to the Kuga scene (2013 titanium) so forgive me if I am asking a question that has already been asked.

I have read through this post and I have noticed that some of you have managed to activate anti car jacking using a ELM327 cable and software. I was just wondering if anyone could please post new links to an ELM327 that would work with the correct software needed and if anyone has done a user guide for this.

Thanks In advance

Danny

I'd say what your seeing is normal as the engine starts and then dies for whatever reason. The starter motor doesn't crank at idle speed, but will attempt to reach idle speed when the engine fires/runs if something doesn't prevent it.

Could be the glow plug module is not keeping the glow plugs litt long enough for smooth start
Double tapping start button will often result in glow plugs not operating on the second tap
Foot off accelerator one press off start button iff it doesn't start after all you've done

Mk2 General Discussion : Ginger Ale replacement?

Has anybody seen the Green Instinct in the flesh?
We have a Ginger Ale mk2 on lease that is due to go back later this year so have been looking at its replacement. Disappointed that this colour has been discontinued but the new dark green looks interesting.
We will be looking at Titanium X trim so trying to decide which colour now looks best, the Ruby Red looks nice but it's a bit expensive. Current thinking is Shadow Black though I like the Guard grey from the pictures I've seen but the green seems pretty uncommon as I've never seen one and might be an interesting choice.
White and silver aren't options and I think we've ruled out the blue leaving just the two greys and black in the premium paint. Not sure what the Kuga looks best in now.

It never sounds like its lumpy running though George, its sounds very smooth for the brief time it is running wouldn't you say.

After reading more bad reviews than good, I now wonder if ordering a kuga was such a good idea

Thank you.  Somehow missed those threads.
Love the green but probably not going to stump up the extra for it as I can get the black for free but the green is full price :(

That was an interesting exercise for the brain cells - I think I got them all:

VauxhallViva HB 1100
Ford Anglia 105E Estate
Austin Healey Sprite MkIII
VW Beetle 1300
MGBGT 1.8
Ford Escort MkIII 1.3 Basic
Ford Orion 1.6
Vauxhall Cavalier 1.6
Vauxhall Cavalier 1.8 SRi
Vauxhall Vectra 2.0 SRi
Vauxhall Vectra 2.5 V6 Estate
Vauxhall Zafira 2.0 Mk1
Vauxhall Omega MV6 3.0 auto
Vauxhall VX220 2.0 turbo (2nd car)
Honda CR-V 2.0 SE Sport
TVR Cerbera 4.2 V8 (2nd car)
Ford Kuga Mk1 2.5T

Most of the boring Fords/Vauxhalls in the middle were company cars.
I also owned a 25% share in a 6.2 litre Pontiac Station Wagon for a few months in the US in 1979.
And I drove a Lada as a "company car" for 3 weeks in Kuwait just after the war...  :o

I wouldn't expect the Kuga to win against newer models like the Kodiaq. Perhaps the firmer ST-Line suspension also worked against the Kuga?

VAG products seem to always get great reviews in Australian magazines too. They look very premium and upmarket, but I wouldn't want to own one past the warranty period.

The CX-5 is just a jacked up hatch back which is useless for carrying any big loads. They do look more premium and upmarket than the Kuga.

Hi Danny, I'd personally recommend skipping the ELM327 devices and looking for an interface with a later (more modern/ capable) chip in it. Something like the ELS27 or OBDLinkMX.

They're both based on the STN chips which are a lot better than the ELM327. The ELM327 actually requires a modification with a switch because it doesn't support all of the buses required for use on Fords. The STN has that capability from the factory as well as working at a lot higher speeds.

(PS: keep an eye out for cheap copies of the ELS27 which don't work http://forscan.org/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=1904 the Russian website in the link I posted is the place that makes them.)

(I used an ELM327 modded with a switch to activate the auto locking on my 2016 Kuga. I bought it before I found out about the STN based interfaces.)

Read opinions of those that own them, not those that are paid to write about them.

Absolutely love mine!

Go by your own feelings and opinions, nobody else's - but base them on something. To me, a review is simply a useful list of pointers as to what to look for. How much those things matter to me is my judgment and mine alone, for better or worse.

Update on the fumes in car, EGR off and on 4 times each time cleaned out, new gasket installed and egr firmly fitted in place, However after all this and going out of my head thinking where the hell is this coming from, I dived on the floor and noticed fluid dripping from the exhaust joint directly after the DPF, it is very rusty and is in need of a replacement, for the time being I have Gun Gum'd and taped the joint up, its not perfect but the result is far better than it was. I have been looking to replace the centre exhaust pipe with new, BUT cannot find anyone who has them, I know I can get one from ford but I do not want to pay their prices. anybody have any contacts ?

Do not know in terms of milesxgallon (quite lazy, I know...). Nevertheless, I can say that, depending on the foot, I move from 750 to 950 km per tank. 1.5l TDCI.
