I had an unsolicited phone call from Greenpeace the other day, wanted financial support for their clean air campaign, with Diesel being the devil's brew.
I tied him up a bit saying I drove a diesel as that's what I had been advised to have under then Government and Dealer advice.
I pointed out leaded fuel was banned and replaced with something far more toxic, unleaded, then we were all told diesel was the best thing for the environment - now they're telling us electric/hybrids are the way to go and diesel is terrible for us.
I asked him if he thought, if the Government could manage to keep the same opinion for more than 5 years, people would have more confidence in these about faces, he declined to reply.
I also asked him, if we all part ex'd our diesel for electric, how environmentally friendly the UK electricity production is, and how the national grid would cope with so much extra usage.
He did admit both of those would be problems, but said they have a scheme going where lamp posts can be adapted to also be electric charging points.
He agreed there was no short term answer, but still wanted me to give them money to help drive the nails in to diesel's coffin.

Nice one Grumps    I think I'd also be inclined to point out the generally* abysmal fuel consumption of petrol cars the size of a Kuga, which despite the manufacturers' and press claims otherwise, I don't think have really improved much since I drove a 2000GT Mk3 Cortina...

* I note there are exceptions (there are always exceptions); no personal offence intended to Ecoboost owners on the forum

I'm surprised Haynes are still going to be honest, normally 10 minutes on the internet gives you all the answers for a specific job..

Engine wise they use them in the Mondeo etc as you say (is it a Peugeot engine?), and brakes are brakes..

Maybe taking the interior to bits without breaking anything would be Kuga specific?.

Just arrived home to find an envelope bearing the Ford logo on the mat and containing the requisite letter. Just a week from me emailing the incorrect V5, although in fact Ford must have been pretty quick as the postage was 2nd class.

I'd also called into my insurers (a local broker) yesterday to give them the heads up to what was in process, and they actually changed it all over just on my word. So I'm pleased I'm sorted so quickly, although sorry for those of you that are having more bother.

Youre halfway there to getting it sorted. Just be hopeful that DVLA dont mess it up like they did with mine and a few others. Make sure you keep a copy of the letter from Ford until you get you're new V5

Mk2 Technical : EGT Sensor fault (P242A)

Hopefully that has 'fixed' it for you.
I have just got mine back from the garage - no fault found.
They said they put the car on the ramp, checked the dpf pipes and did a pressure test and all was fine.
I'm conscious that I used 'cheap' supermarket fuel (different supermarket that I normally use) and the problem occurred. That shall probably top up the tank with some 'premium' diesel and go for a motorway drive to get the additives through the system and just wait for the problem to reappear.
Was the sensor easy to get to? did you have to get to it from underneath?

Yeah, halfway as far as Swansea is concerned, though tbh keeping the insurance straight was my main concern. As for the letter; yes, keeping copies standard procedure in this household 😉

Mk2 How-To? : Hands free power liftgate

Confirmed that engine on means kick operation of tailgate inhibited on latest vehicles, certainly if you exit car with fob in hand/pocket and walk round to back of car.   This appears to be an intentional design change.  Quite sensible enough in all fairness and with both an internal dashboard button and the external tailgate button available there is no lack of functionality.  One shouldn't normally be approaching the vehicle with both hands full of shopping or whatever and needing the hands free operation having left the engine running !

Non taken, mine has fuel consumption in the high twenties with lots of city driving and goes like a cut snake. So I'm happy with my choice.

Hi,

The sensor itself is easy to get to, its just on the exhaust after the Particulate Filter.
I removed it with a small spanner about 12mm.
The connector is more difficult as it goes under the chaise and into the engine bay so I just checked the cable where I could see it then put the sensor back in.
If anything I think my problem was either a bad connection or one of the cables possibly catching against something down to earth.
I use cheep fuel so I don't think that a problem.
P.S. when you say lost all power do you mean engine power, when the fault occurs the engine goes into safe mode and the turbo valve shuts which give the big reduction in turbo power.

Hello - and I got one too!  And yes, black is definitely the best colour:

I had to fly south to collect mine, and then drive 450 miles home - but the 2.5T models seem to be a bit more hard to find...

Hi All
I ordered exactly same as you Mark, cant wait for it to arrive.
Ordered: 21st Jan
Built: 13th Feb
Currently: Still sitting in Dagenham after delivery date to dealer was meant to be yesterday :(

My last car was a Focus ST, one of the first to order one in UK (62 plate) and it was extremely late delivered. Really hope I don't have same issue again :(

Pester your dealer.  Not covering for them but it's a manic time of year due to new registration plus the tax change in April.  Flushing and Dagenham are awash with cars, they are moving them as fast as they can.

Trust me though, it's well worth the wait.  I can't fault my new car and I think it looks stunning as well!

As you say, this time of year the distribution depots are very busy and Dagenham Dock is the busiest in the UK. Ford's don't take on any extra staff to cover the demand.

This time last year I was waiting for my new Kuga but was very lucky as it came direct from Valencia into Southampton which has a fast turn around from arrival to dispatch.

Well done Grumpy you tied him up good , we are taken in by what we are told by a Government who are advised by specialists to what is good and bad for us , as for the future it will cost us diesel drivers  more and more, no doubt the road tax will go even higher for diesel motorists as well, I for one am happy with diesel but if the Government would like to give me the market value of my Kuga to get it of the road they can have it , probably take them another 5 years to decide that.
