Hi Bob

Sounds like a great spec motor, if I didn't have such a specific list of requirements on the car then I might have been interested.
I have mobility issues so need auto, and my mileage is so low I would destroy a diesel in a year !!
So, I need to get the Kuga which is as rare as the proverbial rocking horse doo-doo, that being petrol auto.

There's about 20 for sale in the whole country, and probably 12 of those are Ford Direct. So my options are fairly limited.

I hope all goes well with your plans for a new one, not envious at all

Well my Kuga is 'in transit' from Ford Direct, just found out today. I am looking forward to picking up end of the week but there is something I have been wondering since I ordered it.

I am keen to have the reverse camera, but Etis says LESS CAMERA. It's a 2016 car, registered Oct last year so has Sync2. I also know it has the premium sound with 9 speakers etc.
As I understand it, the camera did come with the premium audio upgrade option, so I am wondering why Etis says it might not be there.
I guess I could stop being impatient and wait 2 or 3 days, but hey ho, can anyone shed any light on this for me

It is possible to have Sync2/ 9 speaker premium sound system with no reversing camera - Ford Australia made a mistake and forgot to tick the box on the order form for the first two batches of Kuga Trends sold here..... A bit embarrassing when the glossy brochure said they had it! I've heard of dealers retrofitting the camera in them.

The ETIS listing for mine has "Rear View Camera-Fixed".

Post up what trim level it is and someone else on here might have one around the same build date. If you've got decent pictures of it you might be able to see the camera above the rear plate?

I've had a look at the ford motorcraft 4+ site, how they have the cheek of saying it's gonna cost £560 then changed it to £740 when it clearly states £349!!

My drivers window has suddenly decided that it won't close without bouncing back down.  I have tried all of the suggestions for fixing this by holding the button up four five seconds and then down for five seconds etc so that it can relearn where the top and bottom of the window is.  Unfortunately this doesn't seem to work with mine as even when you hold the switch the window will still bounce straight back down as if there is something in the way (there isn't).  In the meantime I have inched the window up to just below the top so it doesn't bounce back just so I don't get wet when it rains.  I read somewhere that if you operate the window and pull the fuse out for the window it will then let you reset it but have looked in the manual and the fuse list doesn't seem to have one for the electric windows?

Can anyone help?  Has this happened to anyone else?
Thank you!Cry

F134 powers the drivers door module which possibly controls the windows to, you could try pulling that one out.

Update:
Mark-the-pro stopped by with a beefy fully charged battery and tried to jump my Kuga with that - fared no better than my earlier attempt.

So he jumped the Kuga from his car's battery with some revs and then my Kuga managed to start fairly readily.

A tip from Mark - once the engine's started; turn on demisters, heated seats etc before removing the jump leads. The rationale being that whilst the booster vehicle is powering things the Kuga alternator is detecting it can't contribute much and is doing nothing - so if you suddenly disconnect the jump leads the alternator has to dive in to the max with potentially adverse consequences. By putting some load on it kicks in the alternator before disconnecting the leads and so reduces the scale of the change.

Battery charging / alternator tested and working okay, so went for the 20 minute drive holding on to the lower gears and we'll see whether it starts in the morning to plan next moves.

The battery is the 6-year old original so it may be approaching end of life as a contributing factor.

I assume from the immediate registration that it hasn't been sold to a retail customer, and that a Ford Manager or A.N.Other have had it since new.
Only done 2800miles so I am happy

How can a Spanish built Kuga be registered in the UK one day after it's been built? (The build date being the day the drive-train and body are joined together on the production line.)

Or am I missing something???

Unless Dave has given us the wrong dates or Etis is wrong, it wouldnt surprise me what the motor industry can do this to make a Month look good. I guess the seller franchise can register a car in the UK as long as its got a VIN number.

Pleased you got going.
Dont want to go into a debate on this, but starting a recipient car from a donor car with its engine running is not good. Correct, switching on headlights etc can prevent voltage surges, but prior to the car starting, the donor car alternator could have tried to supply hundreds of amps to the recipient. Not quite true regards the Kuga alternator not contributing anything when both running, actually both cars are likely to be trying to sense nominal voltage and charge.

New to forum as I have only had my Kuga just over 1 week.

Apologies for what may seem to be a silly question but not sure which are the min or max marks on my engine oil dipstick.

I have a 64 plate 2.0 Diesel Duratorq engine 163bhp and the picture of a dipstick in the manual is not like mine.  My dipstick has a yellow plastic base about 4 inches long with a cross hatched area in the middle.

I am guessing that the bottom of the cross hatched area is min and the top is max. Could someone please advise.

Cheers.

Thanks for clarifying, What i don't understand is the backwards step in Engineering by ford? I always work by the saying "if its not broken don't fix it" i had no problem with having an aerial on my focus and would have felt the same about the Kuga, if its about aesthetics then surely a shark fin type aerial could have been used.

Im sure the heating of the rear element hinders operation too, silly and needless design flaw oh well.

Does anyone know if there is a fix? i.e fitting an after market DAB antenna, is this possible?

Actually there probably is a fix if you hacked into the connection for the antennae at the rear window.

Ive not looked at how it actually uses the heated element and I doubt it does at all, I suspect it uses the silly little 15cm horizontal bit of element at the top left of the rear window which has the appearance of being unconnected at one end (actually it has 2 unconnected ends). Even a shark fin in reality is a poor substitute for the heated screen but would certainly work better than the one on the Kuga.

Just taking a closer look at the one on the Kuga, you have an antennae that is folded. So back your old school days, any electromagnetic energy, your radio station signal induces an one leg of the folded antennae, is then cancelled by the current induced in the other leg as the current is flowing in the opposite direction. So fundamental its unbelievable. So this along with the antennae element being horizontal, facing front to back of the car, and surrounded by heated window element makes for a better antenna if it wasnt there at all.

I have to say that the radio in the latest MK2 Kuga appears better than that which appeared in the early MK2, or Ford have added an amplifier or tweaked something as DAB and FM do work better. My test in the past was listening to Radio 2 DAB at a particular spot on the A17 in Lincolnshire.  At this spot the Belmont radio transmitter in Lincoln is in line of sight and 90 degree side on to the Kuga at 40km distance and the signal drops out completely. Move 10m and a slight right turn and up pops Radio 2 DAB no problem.

There is a means for putting the radio into a test condition to measure the signal strength, but I dont know what it is on the Sync series, I did for the Mondeo Sony radio which was also fitted to the MK1 Kuga.

I only mentioned the Powershift's slight oddities that I've come across and that in normal driving it doesn't do what the OP's gearbox was doing.

I think we all know which gearboxes come with which fuel type.
