Hi

Can anyone who does there own oil/filter change on a Mk 1 Ford Kuga please help with the following question?

When the engine is running at normal temperature is the plastic oil filter housing to hot to keep your hand on or is my oil running to hot.

Many thanks

Bob

Yes that would be lucky but thats related to the engine.

Unless something has become damaged when charging. Oddly enough 12V car electronics are supposed to be tested to withstand a spike of at least twice the operating voltage. How long did it take to change battery. Maybe leave it disconnected an hour or so to ensure everything on the car has discharged, but other than that it maybe a dealer reset or worse, a module blown.

Yesterday the windscreen washers stopped working which was far from ideal on the M62 with all the spray but no rain!

So I called my local dealer and apparently it's a known problem.

If you put additive into the screen wash bottle (and why wouldn't you?) but only fill it up when the 'low washer fluid' warning comes up it will clog up the filter so the washers stop working.

I'll speak to the service manager tomorrow to get more information but it does seem like a basic design fault to me.

I would say the battery was disconnected for 20-30 minutes during the battery change over.I will try disconnecting it for a couple of hours as suggested - otherwise it looks as though the wallet will have to be dusted!
Thanks again for your interest

No thanks, having the Kuga makes me prepared but I wont go looking for trouble.

Now question is, if we open up this thread, what do the more experienced members on here find is the best setting for stability/traction control. I didnt turn mine off because I didnt find any wheel slip or loss of traction that would interfere with the AWD system.

Hi. I'm looking a buying a 2010 kuga titanium 163 automatic. Now I've been finding conflicting information online about this but I hope someone one here would be able to help me out?

My question is: Do all the kuga titanium autos come with a powershift gearbox? I read a review that states that they do but when scouting out possibilities to buy, some are advertising powershift as part of the title and others aren't.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks

First person I spoke to - not the service manager - told me it was because I'd used a soap based adaptive rather than an alcohol based one!

I don't really see a soap based one being very good at stopping the fluid freezing.

When the car was delivered back I spoke to the service manager and he said it's a known problem and the best thing to do is keep the bottle topped up with whatever you prefer - I use the pink stuff from Wilco - he said the Ford one costs a lot more but 'it does smell nice'!

So I continue to use the Wilco stuff but will top it up before the 'low' warning comes up.

Personally I use an alcohol one (Auto Glym), never had any issues with it and totally smear free, works well on my headlights and doesn't mark the paint work.

Hi all,

Picked up my 2016MY Titanium X 2.2 180ps AWD in black yesterday, and wow, what a great car :) I've come back to Ford after three years with a Vauxhall Antara 4x4 - loved that too but the Kuga is in another league! Any excuse to drive at the moment...

Washer systems clogging up are a well know issue across many makes and models - I used to have a Rover 75 a car that many people had this self same problem with but I never did.  As a recommendation always use a good quality screen wash up and top up regularly.

Leave traction control on the reason it has traction control is to control wheel grip always use the highest possible gear I have powershift so use in d going uphill s going downhill to avoid using brakes as much as possible good motor on bad roads

Another vote for Autoglym, but currently I am still on what the car came with. I have no headlight washers so not sure if I will get low fluid warning.

Hi,
I am a returning former member and I thought I'd update on my car. It's an 08 model black, pano roof, etc, etc. Been a fantastic car in the 6 years I've owned it. But... A few weeks ago the mpg figures suddenly worsened; when starting off after a night parked in the garage a jolt was felt just like when a stuck brake calliper frees itself. Anyway, New Year's Eve driving to a friends for lunch I went through a lot of deep water. No problem the car just went through - no dramas but when I stopped whenever turning the car even a little the back end sounded and felt like someone was hitting the diff with a 4lb lump hammer! Got it taken away on New Year's Day by a mate with a garage. Turns out the rear haldex clutches have been getting sticky with gooey stuff (same as happens to CR- V diffs) and the plates had stuck together. Constant attempts by the haldex to drive in permanent awd meant the diff couldn't work right hence all the knocking and banging. The ingress of a small amount of water through breathers in the casings led to the whole thing throwing its hand in. Anyway, got it back today feels like a new car again, mpg is right up to where I want it to be (45-ish). Mate stripped diff and Haldex, cleaned haldex filter, cleaned every component, lubricated and refitted everything back together. Slight stiffness in the diff input shaft bearings but they're OK and smooth/quiet. Refilled both boxes and all is now great. Haven't heard of anyone else with this issue but if your mpg drops suddenly and if you hear even a bit of a clang - get it stripped. Good luck.

Thanks for all replies. Got the hang of it now, know where to find it and nice to see power distribution around the rubber on the ice we've got.

Silly question.

Just before Christmas I ordered the Titanium X in my signature and was given a rough delivery estimate of the end of March beginning of April.

At what point will I be able to find out more details ie build dates etc as I was in the dealers yesterday making a small change to the order that is not factory related, (its a mobility vehicle), and he just seemed to not have any answers for me.

I keep seeing references to gaining access to Ford sites that give all your cars info I think it is but not sure at what point or how to gain access to it or what information is needed.

Any advice would be gratefully accepted Tongue

Contact dealer for VIN number of vehicle. Some will be helpful and give it to you straight away , others will say they dont have it. Not sure when its allocated but think its at start of build. Once you have it you can go to Ford Etis site and enter it there and you can follow progress of build and location etc

I've moved this post out of the Main Message Centre into the far more relevant and specific Mk2 Order thread where you'll find that there is no detailed order tracking system per se for Joe Public (there is a system for the dealers to access though.)

Instead many hundred of others are using the Ford Technical and Servicing intranet site (Etis) to look at when various modules have been added and when a final build date has been added to their vehicle.
