I try to stay as far away from the dealership as possible. Only headaches over there.

You'd rather the potential for your car to catch fire than take it too a dealership. That doesn't say a lot about your dealerships!

Yeah, I know. I only go there if I can't fix it myself.
So far I've managed with everything. Except for haldex ecu reset. That was done in Finland.
Local dealer failed to reset it.

Anyhow, I'm fairly confident my car has no heater washer jets. But since I am the first owner after the dealership, they know who to call.

Kuga's back from its Haldex oil/filter change. Mark (AES York) noted that sludge was completely blocking flow and that the old filter full of gunge weighed significantly more than the new filter.

I took it for a decent drive out and exercised the rear drive in a forest car park :) - no "AWD malfunction" messages so far.

Hopefully we've caught it early enough and this'll be the end of the episode. If so it'll only have cost £105 rather than the potential £1k+ for replacing the full unit. Fingers crossed and note made for regular Haldex servicing hereon.

NB. Mark used Land Rover filter: LR032298.

Leaves me wondering whether the Ford/Haldex units that have this problem have suffered from too much use, not enough use, exposure to full-moons ...etc.  Ours doesn't get that much AWD action and yet many must never have this problem.

Big thanks to the forum, the contributors above and those in the main Haldex stickie/thread - great work helping people with options and guidance.

I just had a recall for this today but it refers to a Kuga I had in 2010. I've had two more since!

Just received letter for first Kuga ever owned (59).

Currently on kuga number 8 (awaiting delivery of 9)

Clearly not using DVLA data.

Have informed then that it was traded into a Ford dealer.

I gave the Kuga a good clean this morning, then grabbed some photos with the DSLR. I'm really annoyed at myself as I've missed the focus on a couple and they look a bit soft, but I'll try and grab some better ones over the Christmas break.

The Pipercross filter unfortunately didn't turn up today, so fingers crossed for tomorrow.

Hi
Long story short,
Funny noise from engine bay,
Smoke from alternator.
Alternator changed and battery checked all ok.
Now battery light still on dash and code P0626 on fault code reader.
Know it's generator field circuit but....what is this??
Any reply appreciated.

Same here, received 2 letters today covering the first 2 Kuga's that I owned a 58 Reg and a 59 Reg both of which were PX'd so definitely not using the DVLA database but do show VOSA on the letters, strange really as I would say that they should be safety recalls in which case should be through DVLA. Maybe Ford do not want to panic people given the number of early Kuga's that have caught fire, and I think I remember seeing something in the press recently on early Zafira's where they caught fire?

The button for that is on the drivers door, the dashboard one is just an indicator light.
