Indeed and why send a recall for a car which they know hasn't got heated washer jets?

My Mk1 Zetec had heated washers.

I thought they were standard fit? I certainly don't recall them being mentioned as an option when adding the Xenon headlights I had on mine.

Ah, maybe I'm getting confused with the Xenon ones, thanks.

Hi everyone,
A newbie to these pastures...normally I am Alfa forums but in Feb we bought a one year old 4x4 Titanium 2.0D.

It has been utterly excellent for our needs. My wife is the main user and loves it.

We have done a couple of long journeys in it and whilst it is very easy to munch way the miles it does it at the cost of 36MPG - 95% 70MPH on a motorway. Is this right? Around the local roads/town we get more like 30MPG which seems OK for a heavyish car.

Also, I noticed today that there is some hesitation when at a constant speed. There were no warning lights. Could it be DPF regen or something?

It is under warranty obviously so I could ask the dealer but being a car enthusiast I like to know a little more myself.

Many thanks for any help.
Jack

With regards to the subject of MPG as it's a common theme we try to keep comments in one thread as it makes it easier for folks to find and discuss if it's all in one place, it can be found here:

As for the hesitation aspect there's a few posts from other experiencing a form of hesitation, if he doesn't see this thread and respond it might be worth you contacting Fillco as he's had an issue:

I don't get a bad discount.  Think this one I paid £24k or so brand new, so not bad!

First couple of mods done today.

First thing I did was to fit the Team Heko wind deflectors. I've had wind deflectors on my last 4 cars now, and find it hard not to have them now.

Next up, I replaced the stock orange turn signal bulbs for blue tinted ones. They still illuminate orange, but look better in the casings IMO.

Before:

After:

Next up I've got to do the fronts, but reading the user manual it appears they're non-serviceable items, and a return to the dealer is in order. I'm sure there must be a way around this, so I'm going to check it out over the weekend.

I also have a Pipercross replacement drop in filter on its way. Not for noise, simply to free up the airflow as much as I can.

After that, I have plans for a tuning box.  Various reasons for this, but ease of removal for warranty work, and feedback from friends is the main thing.

I've just looked at a kuga 1 brochure I have marked 2010, and it shows "Heated windscreen and heated washer jets" standard on both Zetec and Titanium.

Wheels definitely not silver or high sparkle silver.

Grey more than silver. Think the early ones were silver.

I would imagine that Ford on a safety recall could have access to DVLA data.

Jack, the hesitation I had was on the car from new and manifest itself when accelerating hard up to say 3500 RPM and the revs dropping to say 2000 as I changed up a gear and suddenly no engine power for about a second or so which is a long time when your trying to filter from a short slipway onto the A1 in traffic. This hesitation was due to a fuel vaporiser which was replaced as the car was barely 5 month old.

Your hesitation seems like something mine suffered this October, a sort of roughness when cruising and fairly obvious without it being lurching. It suddenly came on and remained so and as it was due for its 37500 service I mentioned it of course. Service dept suggested it would be the fuel filter which is due to be changed at this mileage. Sadly the roughness was still there after the service. The roughness dis disapear after a further 2000 mile or so. I actually thought the roughness was there whether cruising or on overrun, as though it was a valve that was sticking. It didnt affect mpg significantly as I was still getting around the 43mpg from motorway cruising speeds of a little over 70mph (real speed) and on good old ASDA fuel.

Car now done 50780 mile and is still a great drive on motorways. Looking at changing next February before we hit the 60000 if anyone fancies a Kuga MK2 with towball and satnav.

OK this is good news, in a nutshell Ford do not use Urea to help emissions and clean the DPF thus achieving EU6. I am vagely aware that there are two methods regards the DPF anti clogging wet and dry, does this suggest the Ford Kuga diesel engines are in the dry catagorie which results in the odour in the exhaust system periodically?

Thanks for the assuring replies all,
Rob.

You don't need to log in but I'll point out that the third digit in the prefix is a zero (WF0AXX) just in case....

I think there could be different levels or type of 'recall' that may or may not involve the sharing of info between the Government agencies and Ford.

The reason for my assumption: we all know that both the Mk1 and Mk2 have been subject to plenty of 'recalls' over time however on the official Government DVSA website there is only one official 'recall' for a Ford Kuga since it was introduced to the UK market in 2008.

So the previous issues may well have been a Ford led 'recall' and they've used the info they have available (ie the first owner from the point of first purchase) and then there's a Government led 'recall' which might incur the use of the info on the current owner from the DVLA.
