Got to agree with you there Ant. My friend has a Mk2 on a '63 plate bought at the same time as I bought my Mk1 on a '61 plate. Although there are a few more bits on his (hands free hatch, semi recline rear seats etc), we both prefer mine!!

Having the bits n bobs thats extra in the mk2 over our mk1 does nit make it a better vehicle..

Looking at the rear of the mk2 and its no different to look at than any other make in its class..

I agree. I find the split hatch so handy when you just want to pop the odd bag in (no not the wife)!!

I've looked on mister auto at the 150a Bosch alternator but they all say ' without rev counter contact'. I'm sure I need one!? Anyone bought one of these?

Dear All

Sorry to post a bad news story as a newbie, however I am getting a little frustrated with my Kuga.

I have a 2013 Kuga 2.0 MK2 Zetec (4 wheel drive version), which has had the "Engine Service" warning light issues with the limp home mode activating ove the past year.  This has occurred on at least seven different times, including once on an overtake which was quite interesting!  AA were called on several of the occassions, and like others, no record of any fault could be found when the ECU was checked.

However, week before last, my Kuga went one better and refused to start or even recognise either key until I placed them in the steering wheel slot.  The engine then started, however after 20 seconds or so, all dashboard lights, speedo, rev counter, display, electric window controls etc stopped working.   Local Ford dealer initially said it was a component error with the dashboard display, however after a couple of days, they then called to say the fault had been fixed, as Ford had recommended the software was "reloaded".  No new parts were fitted and the car was returned.

All appeared OK until last Friday when the same fault suddenly appeared that morning.  Dashboard was blank, car refusing to start without the key in the slot, central locking not working, no electric windows etc.  When the AA guys attended, the dashboard then decided as it was nearly Christmas, every warning light appeared and stayed on (although the speedo and rev counter were not working), and I had a variety of warning messages appear including "engine service", "hill start failure" etc.  I had expected "merry xmas" at one point.

Now the car is back in the garage and I suspect the fault is a bit more major than a "software reload"!  Has anyone had a similar failure with their Kuga?

Cant help you with most of the probs you list, but no stranger to Limp Mode due to crushed air filter, plenty of posts on here for that one. However, even my first dealer refused to accept that there was a problem as "No Record in the ECU"....Find a dealer who can dig deeper...my current one has confirmed that theres always a record unless you have a spotty teenager looking at it. As for AA, i doubt if theyre really up to this sort of investigation...it takes an experienced mechanic/technition who really knows how to get into Fords software. Best of Luck. Nigel

Oddly enough, its the larger screen satnav I dont like on the 2016 Kuga as to me the original one is in the right place and the right size, you dont to have glance down to look at it.

When we chose the Kuga (my wife liked the Kuga over the CRV) we both noticed the quality of the Honda over the Ford.

But there was also a recall for then limp-home mode too, which was a software update.

It happened only once to me, when pulling out to overtake an HGV at 50 mph and discovered I couldnt overtake it very smartly at all, interesting indeed. The update cured it, as others on here have posted.

Everyone to his or her own choice. If we all had the same taste, what a dull world
we would live in. If trustford had treated me better, I might have gone for the 2016 Kuga, with the facelift Dash and larger Satnav

Mk1 General Discussion : Cleaning dpf

Hello, newbie here,
I'm having problems with engine going into malfunction mode especially when doing about 60mph on motorway . Code says it's a Dpf problem. I've tried the long run at 50mph plus method to regenerate Dpf , but as soon as I approach 60 mph it goes into limp mode again. I would really appreciate any help or advice from anyone out there who has more knowledge and experience than me, ( that's probably everyone ) . Any help is welcome before I go into daft money spending mode.
Thanks in advance, Bazselwood.

Check the EGR valve and DPF pressure sensor hoses and the sensor. Then go from there.

We nearly got a mk1 back in 2010 but the boot was too small for our needs. As I reverse onto our drive, I wish the the mk2 had the mk1 split boot opening.
The mk2 with the bigger boot is far more practical, but I prefer the outside shape of the mk1.

I have a, less than a week old, Titanium X 2:0 180bhp AWD PS and it is fantastic. I would not swap it for the smaller booted MK1 for anything. Mk2 for me any day.

Does the 2016 Sport model come with the moon roof?
Only saw a new sport model today(not close up) but no moon roof, and yet told my 2014 TitX has moon roof as standard...

Titanium Sport does not come with it as standard. Titanium X and Titanium X Sport do.
