Hi how did you get the info ?

We have a delivery date of 2 Jan 2016 , 26 Dec is boxing day so maybe that is why dealer says Jan ?

Through Ford ETIS, you need to put in VIN number (ask dealer for this) should be 17 digits if only 11 are supplied use WP0AXX for first 6 digits.

Delivery dates came from dealer.

Sorry to be blunt but he's lying if he's said that.

Read back through this thread (yes I know it's 300+ pages long) and you will see countless posts from other new Mk2 owners who have got their VINs from their dealers at the point that their particular vehicle has started the process of being built.

If, as you've previously indicated, your car is due for delivery at the start of January then it's quite possible that the VIN has been available for the last couple of months.

Re Haldex unit..Hi everybody, apologies if I have this in the wrong place but its my first posting.
We purchased 3 weeks ago a 2012 AWD version, we had a warning light come up regarding the AWD. This morning I was reading the posts on these units & I became very worried. I had booked it in to a Ford garage where it was taken first thing this morning, I explained the problem & also mentioned the contents of my reading this morning on this site that made me very apprehensive about Ford AWD units.
Well this afternoon I received the dreaded call back to tell me that it is in fact the Haldex unit that is the problem!! Please note the car 3 year warranty runs out in December & it has only covered 22500 miles.
The gentleman on the phone did say that he has spoken to Ford Technical Dept who have agreed that they should change the oil & filter at no charge to us, I have to say my blood pressure was starting to lift, I expressed my disgust that this problem should arise this early in the car.
He then stated that if this did not cure the problem then the Haldex unit would need to be replaced, No prices mentioned as yet.
I did tell him that it looks like I would be starting my own story on the Kuga Owners website. No you won't need to do that was the reply.
Well the saga has begun.
I will keep you informed I let him know that it will all be passed on to the Kuga Owners website. It has proven to me that this site is invaluable. Thank You.

We had the oil & filter changed at no charge & all well SO FAR!!
However we have just had the car serviced & they then tell me that it is "Recommended by Fords to have the automatic gearbox oil & filter changed- Price quoted £280, bit strong that I thought. I will be asking for advice on doing this myself from the Kuga owners.

There's plenty of comments surrounding the auto gearbox servicing and the complexity:

Hi guys I went out to my 2011 AWD kuga today and whenever I pushed the starter button there was a lot of clicking coming from the front where the battery is and she wouldn't start. I tried several times but she would not   turn over. I took the battery out and tried a battery from the Celica  with the same results. Can anyone advise me on what is wrong. There is 40,000 miles on her and this is the first time that this has happened. I was trying hard to think what was wrong. I know that whenever I was coming home I had let her freewheel into the drive and hit the stop button while the car was still moving as I did not want to waken those who were asleep in the house. Could this have cause some kind of a problem.

Sounds like a dead battery, Celica one wont be powerful enough. A lot of members have had battery problems which appear to be sudden ln occurrence. Even if you try to use a charger it will probably not charge sufficiently

As per the info on the forum home page I've moved this out of the Main Message Centre as it relates to a specific Mk of Kuga and into the Mk1 Technical sub forum.

There's a whole plethora of posts on here regarding non starting Kugas with a number of different causes like the bluetooth module not shutting down and also alternator problems to name just two examples.

The best bet, if you haven't got access to one, is to call the AA or RAC out and get them to hook up their OBD reader to the car to see if it can determine the error code from the ECU then at least that should give you a starting point as to what's causing the problem.

Have to agree with Gaz, your dealer is not being truthful. This is my third Kuga and have always had my VIN. My son has order a new Focus Diesel ST and he also has a VIN and build started on the 8th December.

Go back and ask him again, make sure it's being built otherwise your not going to get it when you say.

Ah yes can see they are silver. I must admit people always seem to comment on my wheels and what a difference they make to the look of the car for the better of course lol. I love the look and would imagine would look just as good on yours. I so wanted a sport but couldn't stretch my budget so have slowly made the changes to make it like the sport, my insurance company actually insure it as a sport model now which cost me an extra £22 for the year. I've just got to sort the plastic colour coding along with the front and rear bumper.

You'll enjoy the quality of the CRV, like allowing the doors to close from 15cm, I dont thjnk Ford could achieve that. Oh and the way the rear seats fold and you can have cream leather.

Looked at the EX 2 years ago when looking at the Kuga and I've just looked again at the EX as I'm looking at renewing but the EX hasnt moved on since 2013 as far as the interior is concerned. The Kuga was a better drive but the Honda was a smoother engine.

At least you shouldnt have any trouble and if you do, you'll probably get a friendly ear.

A friend of mine has 58 plate Accord and Honda have issued a recall on EGR valve and an attached pipe, it appears that the pipe is splitting on some cars and Honda expects the parts (non wearable) even though out of warranty, to last at least 10 years.

Just a pity Ford service let you down, though I suspect with your CRV your much happier.

Kneller, did your car have the ford logo on the touchscreen when you got it? Mine was blank and I prefer it that way - looks a bit cluttered with the logo. Easily fixed via the settings menu.

They do look good.  I'm liking how yours looks a lot!

It wasn't, it was in the settings though.  To be honest, I prefer it with a logo.  I normally make my own custom backgrounds anyway, so the Ford one won't be staying for long anyway Thumbs Up

There is a method used by pro upholsterers to heat the leather with a heat gun or hairdryer causing it to shrink slightly, lots of vids on U tube about it, heres one:

Mk2 General Discussion : 180PS vs 150PS Diesel - worth the extra

Subject: 180PS vs 150PS Diesel - worth the extra
Posted: 12 Dec 2015 at 6:34pm

Hi all,

I'm new to the Kuga but having tested various 4x4/Crossovers recently have decided I like it a lot more than Qashqai, Yeti, Tiguan etc.... so I'm just about to configure and order a new one.

My choice is a 4x4 (which I need as live in snowy mountains), Diesel, Manual, probably Zetec or Titanium Spec.... but my question is whether the 180PS Diesel (which I have to buy Titanium to get) is worth the additional cost over the 150PS (which is what the Zetec has). I'm not too bothered about the other Titanium benefits as I can get my head round the value of those but it's the engine I'm not so sure whether to push the boat out for.

Most of the reviews I've read either seem to have focussed on the 150PS and/or on the 4x2. So any views you have on the difference between the 150PS and 180PS performance in Manual/Diesel would be great.

BTW - my driving it typically mountain twisty roads plus a bit of motorway long distance, no towing. I'm not so worried about mpg and emissions as I'm fairly low mileage overall but of course its a consideration if a big real world difference.

Many thanks

I've got a 163 bhp engine AWD manual with bluefin installed taking power upto 180 bhp and additional 89nm of torque.
The difference is night and day especially the initial pick up when pulling away or out of a junction.
