I know what you're saying phoneman, but I wouldn't change to FWD.

Turn the instrument information display to the AWD torque split screen and you'll see it's working all the time on sealed roads when you're accelerating. On wet sealed roads- eg. when you're turning across traffic at an intersection- it could be a life saver. I hate FWD's in the wet... you don't need a very powerful one to get wheel-spin when turning. With the AWD it just grips and turns.

You might find a lot of torque steer too. People on the USA Escape forum complain about it with the FWD models (they get the FWD with the 2.0l petrol EcoBoost.)

Standard lighting is only slightly better than candles. The xenon lights are superb and it sounds like it’s something you really want, so go for it or you’ll regret it every time you drive in the dark.

Green Flag through caravan club (or whatever silly name it has now) is very good. Our friends used the get you home cover when the driver suffered a heart attack in Devon, again a year later when a lorry rear ended them on the M5 and recently they came and changed a punctured caravan wheel for them. Every time excellent speedy service. They also recovered substantial compensation and costs after M5 accident.

Do you drive with aircon switched on all the time, if not it could be a sign of a slight water leak (not to worry you)

Yes, it is.  Had it for just over 6 weeks now and I'm very pleased with it.  Like others I have seen on this forum, I was a bit concerned as to whether it would be powerful enough, but I wanted a petrol ST line with manual transmission so didn't have much choice with the engine.

So far I have not found it to be underpowered, and the engine is extremely smooth and quiet.  I've found it to be a pleasure to drive around town as well as cruising on the motorway

It has a bit less punch than I'm used, but it's not a fair comparison as my last car was a 2L diesel 178bhp Audi A4, so not similar in any way

HID (Xenons) are a great improvement over the stock Halogen candle bulbs I converted mine for approx` £30 using 5000K H7R bulbs its easy to do basically remove the bulbs and replace with HID bulbs, fit the ballast (one screw) connect it up (plug n play)

The road becomes daylight at night and the new H7R bulbs doesn`t dazzle and gives the correct beam setting.

I fitted the first HID conversion 13 years ago in an RX-8 and several cars since, now done in my 911 as well and now do it for dipped beam and main beam headlights, they have always passed an MOT without problem the kits used to be expensive but are very cheap now.

Definitely a worthwhile upgrade over candle Halogen bulbs.

They also get 245 HP vs 150, so it wouldn't be surprising they get torque steer that's a lot more horses.

Is changing the bulb type a "modification" for insurance purposes?

Something else that as been niggling me since tuesdays filter change....
When the O ring is fitted onto the filter lid prior to fitting the lid he put a thin smidgen of grease onto the O ring so the housing lid slowly sits tight when he tightens the bolts.....
He says its to stop the O ring from moving.......

Well that might be because of moving. But whenever I change those O-rings, I also use some kind of lubricant. For diesel, usually I just use diesel fuel, for oil I use oil and so on.
This is just so the O-ring has some ability to slip while he tightens the cap.
If there is no lubricant the O-ring CAN be ripped and thus not sealing anything.
I would not worry about this. To me, this only shows that the guy is a bit old school and actually thinks what he does.

I'd be very worried relying on a procedure that kept referencing a break pedal.

Any ideas where i can get one from besides the scr*ppers..

Ant, I will be doing fuel filter change tomorrow. I can show how to connect them. Your car is newer, but it is still basically same.
