Did you take a picture and have a witness? Did you put the brake on to its fullest extent.
Not sure others had any joy withe Ford as you can see, implying the owners had'nt put the brake on as they should.
My guess if the dealer thinks there's nothing wrong then the ratchet mechanism needs inspecting to check the pawl hasnt rested in top of a tooth when the hand brake was applied and then its slipped. You dont want Ford checking this though, but your insurance company should employ an engineer.

![]() I have a 64 plate ford kuga. I discovered your forum on an internet search to see if someone else has had the same problem with the handbrake. I parked my car on a hill, to visit the dentist with my family. On coming out one hour later, We were asked if it was our car that had had an accident. The handbrake was on in the car and it had rolled back down a hill and smashed into a wall, causing extensive damage to the drivers side rear. The handbrake was still on, the car had no heavy items in the boot and had been serviced a month ago by a ford dealer. The car is now being repaired. I believe someone else had a similar issue with a kuga and would be interested to find out how they went on. The car is my first Kuga, and this is probably the first time I have packed on this road with it, but I have had parked on this road with Mondeos with no issues. |
