Well I had a surprise phone call from my Dealer this morning telling me that my car has arrived with them and could I pop in to sort out the final paperwork for Motability Big smile.

So just got back and my car should be ready to be collected either Monday or Friday next week depending on the local mobility center fitting some equipment that I need and then the dealer getting it valeted.

Just need to decide what to do with my Pajero now try and sell or scrap it although not sure I have the heart to scrap it as it has done me well for the last 10 years.

Hi Matt,
You not tempted to wait for the 16 reg then ...?
I am with my one, it arrived at my dealer last Monday.
However as I'm still incapacitated with my broken foot I can't drive till then anyway and there's no way I'm letting my wife drive it first !

Mk2 Towing : tyre pressure

For a mk1 correct pressures for towing are maximum pressures all round plus 3psi in the rears, this is to stiffen up the sidewalls of the rear tyres to cope with the extra forces exerted by the trailer, so 44 in the 17" rears is correct, I don't think the mk2 will be much different.

I agree with you, must be something not right with ours, especially as it's getting worse on mpg. A good thing is that many on here have similar but better mpg than ours so kind of points to a fault with ours. For instance, I just did 20 miles solo, no towing, fairly flat roads, stop/start enabled, quarter tank of diesel and carefully watched the computer, and noticed that most of the time, the instant mpg is showing between 8-16mpg max, average is at 23mpg,and I can't drive it anymore economic than this! I will take it in to Ford this week and see what they say, I hope they find a fault and get it sorted because other than the poor mpg, the car is fantastic at everything we through at it 😕

That is very interesting. I originally thought it was the trip computers playing up until I did a real world mpg test (known amount of fuel used over a known distance) and they both confirm 23-30mpg. Ours is a 15 plate and I'm told that the 65 plate is better on mpg by others. Ours is booked in next week with Ford, who no doubt will find nothing wrong, although I hope that they do and sort it out. Wife is already talking about a bloody Range Rover, I don't do Range Rovers lol

We have never seen 40mpg, best ever in 8,800 miles, no matter how economically driven is 32mpg

Nobby.

Yes, pathetic isnt it, standard on even basic cars. Aggressive marketing, if you dont pay for the higher specification you dont get it. The Kuga is full if thats the right word, of omissions made as options even on the higher specification.

Judging by lots of comments on here the 65 plate cars, my own included, are worse than the 64 & 15 plate 180PS Kugas. The earlier Powershifts were averaging around 40mpg whereas current cars seem much worse with mine at 34mpg after 3000 miles.

It will be interesting to see what my combined mpg will be with a manual 180 (late March), as I've posted on here before, I get around 42mpg on a combined round trip of 142 mile calculated over 3 or 4 trips, though with winter wheels on (softer rubber) I see the mpg creeping up into the 44 mpg with what appears to be an average speed of 60mph mostly on motorways and A Roads. But 32mpg sounds very disappointing even for a powershift.

I agree, it just doesn't sound right. How can cars change from one reg to another.
Like Filco, we have ordered a new tit x sport 180 power shift, so will report back.

On the matter of the bed sport, I've been emailing my dealer to have a factory remove able towbar fitted.
Well they never got back to me, so I called Ford HQ and even they said they couldn't get through.

So I sent a rather tires email, which they responded to.

And guess what, the kuga was on the line being built and they couldn't change it.

So having sounded off at the lack of contact, on the spot they ordered me another with the tow bar etc and £100 off. It will be delivered when the other should have been.

So anyone wanting a tit x sport in platinum white, Ford will have a spare one.

I have just read an article saying Ford are going to launch a revamped version of one of its SUVs expected to be the Kuga at the Mobile World Conference in Barcelona later this month. The car is packed with new 'connectivity' technology.  No idea what this refers to?

Any chance of a link to the article so we can all read it?

Mk1 Technical : Power Steering Malfuction

I have got a 60 plate ford kuga titanium done 29,000 I have had it about 18 months had no problems until a couple of weeks ago, was starting it up and got a "power steering Malfuction " error turned the car off and rang ford dealer I brought it from and booked it on for them to take a look at. When I got back into the car and started the engine the message had disappeared. The ford dealership looked at it and found nothing wrong a week passes and I don't get the error message again, I now get that message regularly.

Could anybody help / advise about this error

There are only 2 components in the power steering, the controller/motor, and a steering angle sensor plus the connectors. The power steering can draw a high instantaneous electrical current.

Does the error appear when turning the steering wheel fast or suddenly or does it just appear when driving/steering gently or direct ahead. Do the interior or exterior lights dim as you turn the wheel suddenly.

Hopefully someone may have come across this but answers to the above may help.

As you were starting the car when you got warning looks like the system voltage dropped

below preset parrimaters causing the power steering alert.

is it possible that the battery is getting past its best. G

Another reason for the message could be a faulty alternator that is over charging.
Mine was charging 18.5V and the power steering, and many other systems just shut down to prevent frying.

After a new alternator everything is perfect.

I literally only get the warning on when I start the car, always on a flat bit of ground. When I drive the car the steering seems fine but just concerned right now that it may just stop working

I don't think the battery is past its best as everything seems to be working fine. Not sure this is related though about 7 months ago I suddenly got a flat battery( I hadn't driven the car for 2days, couldn't work out why the battery was flat but called out the aa and got jump started, left the engine on for 45 mins and never had any problems since
