They also told me about watching out for the ' Bluetooth' on my phone still connecting with the car and the car not ' going to sleep' even when I am in the house at night with my phone, to the extent that I am turning Bluetooth off at night time. Since I have installed my new battery all is ok but it can take weeks for it to happen again. This is not a good situation ' Ford' if you read these forum discussions from proper Ford owners.

I think the fault comes in many guises but nevertheless its there.

As to Ford reading forums, they say they dont and they dont listen to hearsay, but I'm sure they do as there is no better place to be forwarned of potential issues that they would like to know about even if they do nothing and they hear but dont act. If they did its an admission there is a fault and there would be a costly cue of owners asking for the fix. While they say they cant find a fault, Ford will know but not tell the dealers.

As a result of the garage contacting Ford (I did too but got no reply), the complete unit is now being replaced under warranty. They are also refunding me that hefty charge for replacing just the bulb.

I'm sure you are right with regard to Ford not wanting to admit to any fault, what better place to find any problem than ones discussed on here, it's better than any dealer research. Thanks for everyone's replies to my problem, here's hoping it is now sorted, only time will tell.

The Ford US website says available from Spring although that could mean available to order. You can spec one up at the moment but whether you can actually place an order I couldn't say.

I know it may seem sad but I always like to see a Kuga/Escape on the telly. Ken in DCI Banks drove a silver Titanium in the show. It changed to a silver Titanium X in the last series.

Mk2 Modifications : reversing camera

I fitted a hard wired camera to my cousins Jag a couple of weeks ago. While it wasn't a reversing camera but more of a "dash cam" it works as a reversing camera. It was part of a kit he bought that has dual facing cameras and a monitor that clips over the rear view mirror.
The rear camera was attached to the inside of the head liner with tape and the cable was run up the side of the car under the head liner to just above the rear view mirror, as were the power leads where they plug into the monitor. The monitor, when clipped to the existing mirror, serves dual purposes, it is your rear view mirror as well as having the screen for the cameras, this can be deactivated by means of a screen saver to prevent distraction. The rear camera has cables that connect to the reversing light circuit that automatically turn the unit into reverse camera mode when reverse is selected.
It was an easy fit and my cousin is very pleased with it - may not be what your looking for but it does the job as a reversing camera with the bonus of being a dash cam too

Ford to axe less-profitable models in Europe and to make job losses and possibly introduce a couple of new Crossovers / SUVs.

Quote Ford will reduce the size of its workforce and axe some less-profitable models in its range as the company strives to increase its profitability in Europe.

As part of a major Ford of Europe overhaul announced today, the company said it would introduce a "voluntary separation" programme which would allow workers to leave the company at their own behest. The move is expected to save $200 million (about £138m) annually, and is designed to give Ford “industry beating levels of efficiency.”

The Blue Oval also announced that it would be “eliminating less profitable models” from its product range. Autocar understands that models whose future is in jeopardy include the third-generation Ka, which has already been spotted testing in prototype form and had been due to be officially unveiled later this year.

In the future, Ford said in its statement, it will put a greater emphasis on SUVs and crossovers, a strategy that was first announced last September. The Ford Ecosport, Edge and Kuga models will be joined by two new crossovers, which Autocar understands will be based on the Fiesta and Focus.

Ford said it wants to improve its European profits in 2016 and grow its operating margin. The company said its European strategy calls for a “more streamlined and profitable product line; more emotional and experimental brand communications; and a leaner cost structure to lower break-even and help offset growing regulatory costs.”

Announcing the plan today, Ford’s European boss Jim Farley said: “In the past three years, Ford of Europe has improved its business in all areas and moved from deep losses to a $259 million (about £178m) profit in 2015. This is a good first step.”

“We are absolutely committed to accelerating our transformation, taking the necessary actions to create a vibrant business that’s solidly profitable in both good times and down cycles. Our job is to make our vehicles as efficiently as possible, spending every dollar in a way that serves customers’ needs and desires, and creating a truly sustainable, customer-focused business.”

The company says it will launch seven new or refreshed vehicles in 2016 - including the new Focus RS performance hatchback already driven by Autocar. The Blue Oval will also expand its hybrid and electric offering in Europe, with a new version of the Focus Electric already known to be in development. In total, Ford will add 13 new electric vehicles to its range by 2020, as well as providing electrified versions of 40% of its model range.

Another area of growth will be in Ford’s all-wheel drive offering. The firm currently offers eight models with all-wheel drive, and expects to sell around 140,000 AWD vehicles in Europe this year.

Aren't the Ecosport & Kuga already based on the Fiesta & Focus respectively? I'm not quite sure what else Ford need in the range apart from a replacement for the not so great Ecosport. I don't think they need anything Focus (Qashqai) sized.

Mine has just started developing puddles of water in the front passenger footwell. Only seems to happen when I wash the car. And before you say it, yes I did close the window and the door before washing it LOL

Anyway my local ford garage won't see it now until end of March. They fully booked with other complaints of water leaks. Seems to be a common fault.

If it can't be repaired under warranty (2011 plate) it will have to go. Not paying for something that's not my fault.

Thanks for the reply, I had looked at that set up but the biggest drawback I could see is that I would lose the auto dimming of the rear view mirror and there is no manual dimming available.
Cheers
Peter

Just popped into my local Caerphilly Kwikfit and had my wheels with me in case they could fit (tyres)them today which they did as they are always brilliant in there and they are actually losing money on the deal as bought online cannot fault the service in there as I have been a customer in there with my works vehicles for over 20yrs.
Get your tyres ordered today as cannot buy the tyres for that without fitting.

Hi,Chi2Wai,
Hang on in there mate, and book her in for the end of March. Your dealer should strip all of the seats out, repair the leak, and dry your carpets out. Takes about three days and costs about £350, but will be a lot less than you will lose getting rid! The work should be guaranteed for a year, so a bit of peace of mind. Mine was done Jan 2015, so I am keeping a watchful eye.....
Best wishes,
Les.

Hi there. I need some help please. Just been reading your thread on your kuga leak with water entering boot from somewhere above rear light cluster. I have exactly the same problem but can't work out where the leak is occurring. Did you work out where the leak was and was it an easy fix? Had all carpets up as soaked through. Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks

Andy

You need to check the seam in the outer body shell running under the roof rail mount along the roof and down the back of the body shell by the main hinge for the tailgate. Mine had this exact fault, it was Pi**ing water like a tap down the inside of the rear pillar when I ran a hose over the roof. The water was then running under the boot floor, wicking down the insulation under the back seat into the footwell. I used a wet vac to pull over a litre of water out of the footwells before the carpets etc were taken out and dried etc.

Latest update from Ford.............. Kuga has been VOR for a week now. The Haldex pump, hydraulic oil and haldex filter are being replaced tomorrow morning under warranty, hopefully it should fix the problem and I can have my Kuga back and on the road again. Thumbs Up
