Change up a bit earlier smartly if you want to make a quick get away. I suspect the 180 isnt much different to the 163 (mine) as far as ratio and yes 1st seems low but then I'd expect it in a 4x4 and I wouldnt expect it to equal a standard car 1st gear range. Those on here who tow seem quite happy with the range. More than made up once your in 2nd and 3rd and 4 wheel traction.

With the amount of torque the 180 has it's easy enough to pull away in 2nd on occasions.

Well nothing new here. We have winters like this often. We are used to that.
I personally love deep snow and helping stranded or stuck drivers.

From page 94 of the owners manual.

Heated Exterior Mirror (If Equipped)
Note: Do not remove ice from the mirrors with a scraper or attempt to readjust the mirror glass if it is frozen in place. These actions could cause damage to the glass and mirrors.
Note: Do not clean the housing or glass of any mirror with harsh abrasives, fuel or other petroleum-based cleaning products.

Both mirrors are heated to remove ice, mist and fog when the heated rear window is switched on

Hi MajorTom,
first there are no silly questions. I just wasnt clear enough with my describtion.:
1. move thr miror glas to the inside, use you electic stick on the car inside, this was you can see yourself when sitting in the drivers seat
2. then make it go all the way up , as if you want to have a look in the sky
3. then pull the mirro glas evenly towardy you
4. then you'll hear a klick and the glas is off

I hope that will make it more clear??

I have a 180 powershift that I use to tow an 1800kg twin axle caravan. It tows this with ease and cruises easily and comfortably at 60-65mph returning around 25-27 mpg when towing & around 40mpg solo. I'm impressed with the cars performance. The engines do need to cover a few thousand miles before they loosen up and perform well.

I think the op is referring to the apparent low gear but Helipilot quotes the facts it is quick away. You do have to smart change from 1st gear (manual of course) which really isnt hard do and compared to a 2WD you can use all the power to drive away without the horrible spinning wheels.

As far as I can remember its always been the case on Fords that the heated mirrors if fitted come on with the heated rear windows. Great and so very useful for removing the condensation/mist.

It isn't a button, it just has a light on it to indicate if the doors are locked.

Yes you are both correct !

I have been pressing it and nothing happening. When I press the door lock button that lights up. Cant really see the point of that - but I know what it is now.

Thanks for the replies.

Look at EMUK (german site : http://www.emuk.com/spezialspiegel.html). The EMUK ones are made special for the car.

Or Brunsgaard - dont know if you can get them in GB (http://www.brunsgaard.eu/index.php?hovedsideid=14). The Brunsgaard ones are universal.

I had Oppi for my Mondeo and EMUK for my previous Mondeo. The EMUK vere much more stable and didnt shake. F

Sorry that was a rushed reply, yes its the indicator that the doors are locked (by the lock button on the door).

I said button because it was distinctly different to the one on my MK2 which also looks like a button.

So the current MK2 is being shipped without an up to date handbook?

Just learned from an older thread they do fit, Mk1 to Mk2 bolt holes are the same. I thought from the pictures they looked in the same place but also thought knowing Ford it may be a few mm off...

Don't worry - I knew what you meant. I had a 59 plate Mk 1 but I can't remember what that had.

Yes - the book I have with the car does not show the sony radio or that "button" we are on about.

The one at the top of this forum doesn't appear to have it in either but I haven't looked properly. The one on Ford's website is ancient !
