I've had a similar problem and Ford replaced the switch but some miles later it is playing up again. Need to depress the clutch a couple of times before it kicks into life. Still works but I'm certain it will fail totally at some point in the not too distant future.   Is the switch easy to replace?

I'm not sure if you are aware but the clutch switch can be tempremental and if you try pressing the clutch once or twice it may help. The diagnostics may be unrelated.

I had the o/f side front bearings changed. Hello of a noise which the technicians put down to tyres until they took it for a test drive.   Bearings changed and the horrendous drone stopped! So not the tyres.

As the garage replaced the switch at my last visit I don't know exactly where it is located. I only managed to bypass the switch that was located immediately within the clutch pedal ( I believe this switch only communicates with the dashboard display to give the message to depress the clutch pedal to start the car. There is as second switch that actually prevents you from starting the car when it fails.
Both switches are cheap plastic components and you have reminded me to contact Ford and ask them why a £26,000+ car can be immobilised by a component that probably cost Ford £1.50 to make.
Cheers,
KugaKen

Just to give you an update on mine. I had it in the garage a couple of weeks ago and they looked at lots of different things starting at the clutch pedal switch and working back to relays etc. They still haven't been able to fix it and have said that it is probably something the do with the Keyless Vehicle Module (KVM) but said that this is expensive to replace and might not solve the problem. Needless to say I declined the work and have accepted the fact that I will need to continue pressing the brake and clutch to start the car!

When I was looking at the switches on the pedals I noticed that there are two, one on the clutch and one on the brake. I have tried to replacing both of these but still no luck. Good luck with yours.

Hello and welcome!

It might help when asking for help and advice if you let others know which version you've got as the Mk1 Kuga is different from the Mk2 Kuga.

There's loads and loads on info on here regarding bars, steps etc etc and as they're a modification to the standard base car these threads can be found in the respective Modification sub forums:

As per usual I'll lock this to stop multiple threads on the same common subject running in tangent.

Thanks, I tried to start the car again this evening and it did the same as was shown in the video, in addition to this i put the headlights on and they wouldn't go off, I eventually got them off and now when pressing the start button nothing happens e.g no Dashboard lights, sounds. Is this something you also experienced?

I had this problem on my 2011 mk1, car was ok when locked up in garage at 9pm, next morning pressed the start button and nothing, no lights nothing, AA came out on ford assist and found battery was totally dead, He put his jump leads on from his van and it took over 20 mins to get it started. Techie said something on car was not shutting down and drained battery, turned out it was the voice control module linked to the bluetooth ( warranty repair luckily) module was replaced and original battery was still in when I p/xd for MK2

Here in the US there are many complaints about door handles sticking open. TSB 12-12-12, technical service bulletin.
Description:
FORD: THE EXTERIOR DOOR HANDLE WILL EITHER BINDS, STICKS OR FAILS TO RETURN PROPERLY AND GETS WORSE WHEN WEATHER IS COLDER. MODELS 2013 ESCAPE. *PE

There is a procedure for adjusting the handle. I will have to go find it.

Hi Mike,
My local friendly (independent) garage in Preston (East Yorks) sourced it from "their supplier" which I guess is in 'ull ... someone like Waterloo maybe ... but it was on stock so it was done within the day ...

You'll get about 5 years (depending on your driving habits) out of a battery and the colder weather will always expose a weak battery.

If you haven't had a problem with battery drain before then I don't think a Bluetooth module (for example) not shutting down is your problem.

Replace the battery.
