Morph I'm sorry I have to disagree with your earlier comments about things just break !

It's a well know fact in the whole motor industry that once a car is launched it's cut back time.... Tenders go out for the cheapest manufacturer of any given part gets the supply contract. That only leads to corners being cut to produce the part cheaper.

It's should be quality over quantity, but would that make big profits on production and spare parts ?

I was one that got the first of the new shape vectras not a sir or gtx just a bog standard Club yet the gear it had in it was great. The year after, all that stuff I got with mine was either an up-grade pack or on the next model up SRI I think ? So how did I get it all free on the launch car ? My point being, if they openly do that, what other cut backs are happening that you can't see ? Especially on electrical components !!!

I also guess, well I'd say, A car used every day, all day has fewer faults occurring than a car used once a week to go and get a Sunday paper from the local shop 100 yards away !

FYI - I've moved this thread out of the Mk1 Technical sub forum as it relates to a Mk2 and could lead to confusion.

Hi Phoneman - Yesterday after I posted this the car had to go back to the dealer as the "Engine Management Failure" light came on, so I have asked them to look at it at the same time. You could be right though as the difference is not massive when I turn the control.
Thanks for the reply.

Ice White quality.
Platinum White......Classy and Quality in certain lights a strawberry white.
Had both colours on Mk2s definately pearlescents are worth the extra money Ford colours could be more exciting...!!!

It would seem that way - same applies to the S-Max Titanium X Sport - alloy pedals as standard.

I thought the MK1 was Electric white - Ice white is slightly different (having compared the two when I owned an Ice White S-Max and parked next to an electric white Kuga - the Ice White has a blue tinge to it whereas the electric white has a pink tinge to it LOL

I love the Impact Blue but its common as hell now - loved the look of the X Sport in (Colorado?) red when I saw pics!

Its either very short sighted business policy or greed from £100/ hr flashy dealerships. Mind you lots of the mechanics I have come across are not worth that rate. Usually if the computer says no they are sitting in the corner playing on their phone.
If you take a average dealership with say a fleet of 500 Motability cars the basic income from that business is £125, 000.00 from the initial sales and £414, 000.00 from the servicing. Just doesn't make sense lol

Hi,

Yup 163HP 2.5 Turbo Titanium with most available options, the Kuga has only done 33K miles so barely run in.
drove it to work this morning feels like a brand new vehicle again, hope the feeling lasts Smile

Still have no answers from the garage or Fords as to why all the problems though.

Hi CC,

A quick question, is your Kuga diesel or petrol?, the reason I ask is that if it's petrol the engine is a detuned Volvo 2.5 5 cylinder petrol which has 200BHP. If it's diesel then its 163 BHP and is a 4 cylinder?

Quick update - the issue resolved itself! Accessed the USB today and there were the missing albums - I guess it took a while for the car to rescan the stick and update the men....obviously patience is the key....

Thanks Keith, ill pass that on to my mate as it fills the gaps i couldnt. He was adamant that i was using the word "failed"either in the wrong contex or inappropriately but a RAC and Ford both use the same terminology, i think i can feel vindicated. That aside, the bottom line is whether this is a sign of things to come with Kugas on the same build or just an unfortunate coincidence with the US recall. He rightly points out that the Kuga (Escape) in the US probably has US parts and software and cannot be compared to the European built model, personally i dont think theres smoke without fire, and im still very concerned about our forthcoming Tow to the IOW. Thank god yours "failed while at the site not while driving. If theres any further info you can drag out of Ford, please pass it on.
thanks
nigel
