What is FRDS? Ford Diagnostic and Repair System, Yes.. Are they trying to impress us that someone at Ford knows what they are doing. Ford have not convinced me that whatever they say is not an excuse instead of a reason.

Updating Sync does appear to call up other applications Ronnie, and it may be the way/order of how they install them, that seemed to be the way with mine. When mine first went in for the proper update of my Sync2 in Mid November last year, the history file clearly shows multiple attempts to install APIM (Sync) and ACM in varying order and other applications not identified in the list and there were no failures or errors at all. The text was still a problem. It then went in on 17th December and again same routine of varied order of installation with applications not listed, but they finally finished with the ACM being uploaded and then what appears to be a check of installation as I also see this earlier in the history. Installation ended and the text is fixed.

One thing is for sure, the installation routine is not very reliable even by Ford and it looks like Ford are the only ones to sort it out.

edit  Just for info, the ACM module appears to have the same update for Sync 2 and Sync 3
