Kuga mobility : Considering the options

I know this is a bit early ( for me anyhow) as my motability contract has 15 months left to run -but all the current talk in the media regarding diesel taxes and extra charges has got me thinking what to do next - and there are bound to be peeps on here thinking about it as well

I currently have a 2.0L diesel which at current rates would have completed 18000 miles by contract end - i live just over 2 miles from.the start of the london LEZ and although i have only been in it twice in the last 18 monthsv - there is talk of extending it - so i am assuming it will hit our area sometime.

So options

Would you

Buy the car at the end of the 3 years and live with the fact its a euro6 2l diesel

Buy another car - petrol using the same amount as quoted by motability to purchase the 2l diesel kuga.

Hand it back - do nothing leave it to someone else and move on to the next one - makung sure you get a petrol and look at the option to buy in 3 years time

Ignore the fact its motability and consider it as a PCP type deal.

Think the goverment needs to start making things a lot clearer on the plans otherwise there will be millions of unwanted diesels in about 15 months time and i suspect that car manufacturers will be up in arms as the PCP market dries as people can.no.longer afford to buy cars and the exit costs are too high

I have recebtly discovered that i am without a jack for my spare wheel. Does anybody know if the attachment on the jack is generic or if it is specific to the kuga? Also if anybody knows where to get one cheap that would be very helpful! [:D]

Waiting times for new cars is just stupid
My pal has just had to wait over 21 weeks for a Pug 3008.
He ran into the normal non assist dealer , but I think a lot of large dealerships are getting this way.
I know in my own case getting any info has like pulling teeth.

This is one of the problems with cars having too many options and not much standard kit.they more options then the longer it takes to get themadded into.the build process and thats what adds to the lead times - unless its a really popular car then that will add also

Problem sorted now with the sync 3 sat Nav mute speech control on my Kuga, the command the path is:

Display sat Nav full screen view- Touch control icon bottom of screen- A speaker icon appears mid/left side of screen which displays as Black (voice speaker on)-Touch icon which then changes to Blue (voice speaker off)

Thanks for your help on this subject.

What is the issue with regard to the sync 3 system posted recently relating to truncated text appearing on the DAB radio station display?

John.

Could the reason for long delivery periods be due to the fact that the Kuga models have been available through Ford Finance interest free for the last 6 months or so, they have probably been inundated with orders which may have led to failure in meeting reasonable delivery periods due to excessive demands for the Kuga models.

Can't see that because my delivery date has changed from June to December to September to October and people who ordered after me have already got there cars - even though some were late.

No idea what "PCP is, but I'm guessing the warranty would have expired too- being a 2014 model?

A far as AWD being worth it- it definitely is.

My 2.0L petrol has the autobox not the dual clutch auto.
It's not a great gearbox, very reluctant to downshift when in drive, only marginally better in sport.
I would love to have the manual but not available in OZ.

Thank you all again :)

With regards to the PCP, I'll be speaking to them to try and knock the price down a bit, but the car is £18,000 to buy, with a bit of interest etc the final value fee after 3 years is £8000. I've looked at loans and to buy it outright is a lot more money, that's why I considered the PCP. It also means if I decide it's not for me I can easily give it back or trade it in.

Nothing is decided yet anyway, the test drive will really help.

I've never owned an auto car, driven plenty of vans etc but never anything "sporty" so hopefully the 1.6 auto won't feel too sluggish, we will see.

I mentioned to the dealer about the engine fire recall, he said once they have the car they will have the full history on it so will check any recalls etc.

Thank you for responding to my issue, i haven't used keyless entry before on this car so not sure if that works. The main issue is remote locking and unlocking the fob won't operate it. Yes keyless start works fine.

Having worked my way through the Haldex issue (I hope), I thought I'd check the other regular issues and see if I could get ahead of them... and found this thread.

So I bought some trim removal tools and some Sikaflex to fill the cracks I can see near the tailgate hinges. I found the exerts from the Workshop Manual and set about removing the rail end.

First rear one came of readily. The first front one was a real struggle and left some collateral damage on the rail-cap clips. The second front one I can't get off.

The Manual shows loosening the 3 clips from the outboard side and lifting it away, but there are tabs which reach into the roof-rail itself and until these are cleared the cap won't lift at all 'cos the 2 inboard clips are still in place and can't be readily unclipped with a trim tool cos of the sloping angle to the roof.

Anyone got any tips on getting these rail caps off once the outboard clips have been unclipped?

Cheers

Neighbours have been having a new drive put in so loads of dust over the past 2 weeks.  Took advantage of some spare time today and washed, polished and waxed the Kuga.  4 coats of Dodo Juice Purple Haze now so starting to look good.  Magnetic isn't the best colour to show deep shine, would love to have a go on Deep Impact!

I think you will have caused major electrical problems by running the engine without the alternator connected maybe damaged the ECU

Is fault code B1127 actually related to the radio remote control? It may be related to 'low frequency' but not necessarily keyless and as for remote control for lock and unlocking that's on UHF.

Have you a second fob and does that not work too? Have both suddenly stopped working?
