I've now had the same problem on two occasions. The first time I had just stopped to fill up with fuel and then found that it wouldn't start up. I called for the rescue services but after about 15 minutes of trying it suddenly started.

I booked it into my local Ford dealer but they couldn't find anything wrong.

Since then I have been carrying the spare key with me at all times and when it happened again I locked and unlocked the car using the spare and it started straight away. On this occasion the circumstances were completely different as the car hadn't been used for over a day whereas the first time around it had only been turned off for a few minutes.

My partner now refuses to drive the car on her own as it seems to occur at random and mobile phone reception is patchy which means that calling for assistance could also be a problem.

Our Ford dealer has no suggestions as to what caused the problem. The car is just over 1 year old and the remote has enough power to unlock the car from a significant distance. The first time it happened I had my mobile phone close by the key fob whereas the second time I had left it in the house so phone interference does not seem to be an issue.

Any suggestions from the Forum would be appreciated.
