Hi Cheshire, welcome to the forum. I had the AWD Malfunction warning come on a few months ago, but thankfully it corrected itself after leaving the car switched off for five minutes or so. If you do a search on AWD malfunction(s), you'll probably find my post giving a full explanation of what happened. I contacted my dealer about it just in case it occurred again, but so far, so good. I think what brought it on was doing a tight turn on a newly laid concrete car park at my local builders merchants. (Possibly) the ribbed surface of the new concrete upset the jiggery pokery of the AWD system whilst I did the tight turn. Unless yours is something completely different I wouldn't want it messed about with too much, and if they say they can't find anything wrong, and it has settled down again, I would just see how it goes.
Enjoy your Kuga,

Trev.
