We are collecting all these press reports as evidence of a possible scam. In Spain misleading advertising is a crime. 

The confirmation that it is not possible to upgrade to SYNC2.0 has been supplied by Ford Spain, after asking for it to customer relationship center. You can require the same information to Ford UK.

We believe the issue is related to the decision of Ford to abandon Microsoft as a provider of development, and hire Blackberry (QNX) 

And we really do not know if it's worth, or joining a solution will be achieved, but we know that such decisions should not be silent or hidden to the world.
