If you look here you will find LED's on a 5m strip and is only 3mm high.
it runs on 12v dc and can be cut into shorter strips.
Also has 3m sticky back, and is weatherproof.
If you cut to the length you want and stick it on the bottom of the doors, (the part that shuts into the car body) and wire into the puddle lights you would get light on the right side of the door.
Also being brighter anybody coming up behind you would see the light.
You would have enough to do all 4 doors and boot.
