Just noticed this thread. According to the handbook you remove three screws from the top of the headlight, is this not correct?

Looking at making some high power LED replacements for the main beams for the MK2 Headlights that are equipped with HID headlamps, as the reflector in the headlight for the MK2 mainbeam seems to have been designed for something other than the H1 lamp that’s fitted in there as original. The lamp filament is too far forward in the reflector so most of the light reflects off the almost parallel sides of the reflector with only a fraction of the light hitting the forward facing reflector surface at the lamp base. I’ve posted before, have you noticed how very poor the main beam headlights are without the Bi-Xenon dip beam on.

Don’t suppose anyone has had to replace a MK2 headlight that’s equipped with Bi-Xenon.

Not looked closely but does the standard headlight also have the poor main beam, though I see they have a H11 lamp fitted not an H1?
