Glad you got the caliper issue resolved, although it shouldn't have been an issue in the first place. Regarding the power tailgate not lifting, I had this problem a few times, and I could hear the seal trying to peel away from where it touched the bodywork. As they are designed to stop without too much pressure (opening or closing), the sticking seal strip seemed to be the problem. Wiping silicon grease or oil on the seal, and where it touches the inner frame worked for me, and touch wood, the tailgate hasn't failed to open since.
