Hi all..... Well went in to work today after a week off sick only to be told that I had to see the company doctor due to my health. I spent 30 minutes chatting and ended up being sent home as he deems me unfit to be in work. Seems that they may be looking at retirment due to ill health but will have to wait and see what the other doctors say. Anyways this means that I can get the Caravan out for a few more trips. I have a motor mover fitted but due to my arthritis I need a quicker easy erect smallish awning has anyone got or seen those blow up ones?

Hi Troyd.

Sorry to hear about your health mate i got retired out of my company the same thing osti arthritis was my downfall, but to answer your question yes i have seen one and got one this year for the same resons as you, i got the Vango air awning and it was the best money i have ever spent on a awning takes about 10 mins to put up 100% weather proof and if put as per instructions will stand up to 100kph winds, as there are no poles if it does have a problem no damage to the van and it just pops back up after the wind drops, have used it a number of times and im very pleased with it there are 2 models the more expensive one has a no rip fabric all around the cheaper one only has no rip on tha side panels, average prices about £750 but its about the best on the market. if you want more info PM me and i will sort out some bore data ect.

There is a third bolt that you can't get to so ford had to take the bumper off. I would have tried it myself but they also need to programme the ECU to reflect LHD

I've now sold my Kuga but planning on getting another one after changing back out of my Evoque

Don't need LHD headlights now as forces BFG regs allow flatbeam :( so if anyone wants a set of european headlights I have a set of there coming over permenant

You don't need to remove the bumper but there's no way you can get the lights out without removing the wheel arch trim and liner.  I know as I tried when putting my LED DRLs in.  There's a third bolt below the light which has to come out but there's just no way you can get to it with the liner in place.

Taking the wheel arch trim and liner off is not that difficult; they just pull off but be careful not to break the fixing clips.

Once the liner is out the headlight is easy to remove.

Thought I'd throw my comments into the mix. 5 years of Kuga ownership with both my mk1's and I still love the Kuga. It looks great and while ever it still makes me look back at it and smile as I walk away from it, that'll keep me happy for some time to come. Yes I've had the usual dpf issues on my zetec and the corroding 18 inch alloys, and the droning Bridgestone Duellers on the 19's of my titanium. But it drives great, the roadholding is brilliant and there's enough grunt from the 163 engine. Does all I need it to. Likely I'll trade in for a mk2 somewhere down the line as I've really started to like it, but it'll be a long time yet.

Just wondering what members think of the new rules which come into force on 1st October. I for one can see a load of pros and cons but as I hate stickers of any description I am looking forward to removing it from my windscreen and even when my current disc runs out I will always carry my renewal receipt just incase there is a "computer error" and the boys in blue pull me !!!!!!!!

Just taken mine out. As for the new rules it's just a way of making more money. The government will gain several millions from the monthly overlap plus no printing costs. You can check yourself on DVLA website to check the tax status, this is what the police database links to this.

You may have changed your headlights by now but this is how I removed mine a few weeks back.

First off you need to remove the trim around the outside of the wheel arch.

There's a couple of pin type fittings that need to be removed at the lower front and rear of the trim.  Pull the centre of the fitting out and then remove the whole fixing.

The wheel arch trim then just pulls off but needs a bit of force as the clips that hold it on open up inside their mounting hole.  I found the easiest way was to pull the trim with one hand and whilst under tension push the side of the white clips carefully with the end of a screwdriver.  I can't remember exactly but I think there's about 10-12 clips.

If you have front parking sensors you obviously have to also remove the electrical connector from the back of the sensor.

With the trim removed the wheel arch liner needs to be removed next. Again, it just pulls off but has a number of 'fir tree' fixings which take a bit of brute force to remove.  There's a couple behind the wheel which are a bit awkward to get to (unless you jack it up and remove the wheel).  I just pulled hard at the liner and it eventually came off.

You can now get to the bolt at the bottom of the light.  If you look up from the wheel arch towards the light the bolt can be seen.  Its horizontal, positioned across the car.

Undo the light's two top mounting bolts and the electrical connector and the light is ready to come out.

It still won't come though as you have to slacken the grill trim on both sides to get sufficient play in the trim to manoeuvre the light out.

Hope this helps - its a bit long winded but its how I remembered taking my headlights out when I fitted my DRLs.

What a job! I can only say that the ability to remove and replace the headlamp unit was either an afterthought by the designers or an intentional ploy to get business for dealerships, I will not be attempting that myself again. When you require to remove wheel arch trims and bumper removal to complete what should be a simple job, smacks of designers and engineers working in different countries!
My advice, take it to a garage unless you are strapped for cash!
