Nothing wrong with Tesco fuel. They do shift some and if it was all bad, there would be broken down cars with fuel issues all over the place. Engines stripped & the internet would be on fire saying avoid!
The biggest problem of old was going to Ultra low sulphur from Derv, injectors & pumps wore out, no lubrication from ULS diesel. Modern Hdi's were designed around the ULS diesel now available (and now mix of bio diesel)
I think it is the network of British Fuels that supply Tesco, but might be wrong.
Filtration & water ingress is the thing that that Hdi's don't like. so a dirty, water infested underground tank of any fuel station will cause problems. Engines that have had a diet of Morrisons in my experience do have water & dirt in fuel filters.
Engines with no DPF, the premium stuff does clean the exhaust pipe. Whereas a DPF does hide some issues with cheaper fuels. I put a shot of Fuel additive in every now & again just to blast out the DPF.
Next time you fuel up, take a look at the top of the pump, there should be a small read out of how much that pump has served, per fuel. Middlebrook Tesco(Bolton) the pump I used was 1.4 million ltrs!
(I can see a picture next time I go) Then what I said on the opening line, must be truth in that.
